With the constant mention of Enright being one of the best small defenders of this era (top 3 for sure), where does Enright sit in the list of all time Cats?

We should have a separate thread to rank them.

But off the top of my head:

1. G.Ablett snr
2. G.Farmer
3. G.Ablett jnr
4. M.Scarlett
5. D.Wade
6. J.Bartel
7. C.Enright
8. J.Selwood
9. G.Hocking
10. B.Goggin

Sure I have missed a couple.

hard list to compile - you'd have to strongly consider the likes of Bernie Smith, Reg Hickey, Bob Davis & Paul Chapman too imo ...

and there's no doubt still a few I've missed myself !

I think the best way to consider Enrights position in our greatest is pretty easy. One of the Great players in our Greatest era.
I may be biased but I can see 10+ players from 07-now that would be considered some of our all time Greats, Ablett, Bartel, Enright, Scarlett, Stevie J, Harry Taylor, Selwood, Chappy, Kelly, Otto, Mackie, Lingy, Harley (as skipper not player) etc.

agree with this - we are blessed, we're lucky enough to be witnessing the greatest group of Geelong players to have represented the club - obviously there must have been some dead-set guns wearing the hoops circa 51-52 too.

separating individual brilliance from team performance is a tricky one; clearly someone like Ablett sr, without a flag to his name, still belongs in our upper echelon of all-time greats - but I'm one that puts a lot of weight on players who helped their team to the ultimate success, and there is quite a group of current Geelong players who have worked their arses off on and off the field to ensure that this period of Geelong's long and rich history will be regarded as the clubs greatest ever.
