As a Mathews lover you really should know better. IIRC he was a similar player to JC in that he was vastly underrated yet got the job done week after week against all opponents. Not flashy, but an integral part of the team structure.

I prefer Corey because he is consistently excellent in every facet of the game - tagging, possessions, kicking, marking, tackling, 1% (he's WAY ahead of Judd in the last 3 by the way).

The point is, we're pretty comfortable with the role Joel Corey plays for us. We don't need Chris Judd (we already have Gary Ablett), and Corey's game is more integral to us than what Juddy could bring.

No, Kirk and Jude smother and take possession once or twice a quarter. The other stuff in that sentence was irrelevant as Corey has only played in one prelim. Review the tapes of Sydney vs Freo prelim 2006 and Sydney vs St Kilda prelim 2005 and you'll see plenty of carbon copies of that exact play involving Kirk and Jude. Look through the rest of the matches and you'll see that from the likes of Ablett, Crouch, McVeigh and Mathews.

I'm not sure how the discussion got to there but the bottom line is: Anyone, anywhere (if they weren't dropped on their head as a small child) would take Judd over Joel Corey.

Appears ol' Swanny that you've shot yourself in the foot m'boy, because obviously quite a few from this thread disagree. Judd is a cracker, which every team needs, but we already have GAblett old son. And, I know it's unfashionable, but in many cases I actually prefer the 'bread n' butter', '100% on every game' type players such as Corey, Enright, sometimes even Kirk. I luv 'em as much, if not more than the stars of the game, just can't help myself.

Kirk and O'Keefe have been our standouts for the year but our posters prefer to vote for McVeigh and Moore cause they've seen improvement in them and the stock-standard above par performances from our stars don't settle for votes. Ablett and Bartel are your stars, then you have Chapman, Selwood, Johnson, Scarlett, Mackie, Harley. All more valuable to your side than Corey. Corey is like Fletcher or Stenglein were in the Eagles standout midfield. Doesn't get tagged cause the other 5 powerhouse midfielder and/or forwards. If he played at Carlton the likes of Stevens, Scotland and Murphy would be outplaying him. Does not hold a candlestick to Judd.

Priddis would be having a far greater effect on your side in with the likes of Bartel, Ablett, Ling (missed that one before), Selwood, Chapman etc in your midfield than Corey. Look at Priddis last season compared to now without Kerr, Judd, Cousins and an injured Cox. The kid is carrying his side admirably with absolutely no help. Still averaging 25 touches with a retiring Braun, a finished Fletcher and a couple of kids in Masten and Ebert. He would be more than midfield passenger in your side.

Okay, I really did GROSSLY overestimate your football nous. If this ^^^ isn't a troll then you clearly are. Check out the AA for 2007 and 2008 (Corey will be there as will Judd), then check out a few statistics (I already gave you this lead earlier). MAKE SURE you look up the tackles and 1%, just like I said before.

I think a lot of non-geelong fans wouldn't realise how important JC is to us because you need to see him live to appreciate the work he puts in. He's the one who lays the tackles in the packs, he's the one who blocks for ablett and bartel, he's the one who shepards, smothers and spoils through the midfield and on top of this earns himself 25+ touches a game.
I'm not saying that JC is better than Judd, he isn't, but there is no way i would trade Corey for Judd, like the Op was asking. The fact is we need a sacrificing midfielder and we currently have Ablett, Bartel, Joel and Kelly to finish the work JC started.
To opposition supporters who come here and try and claim that we think Jc is better than Judd, perhaps you need to look a little harder at the OP and the responses, and realise that we are going to stay with one of our own, especially at a club that sticks with their own moreso than others
