phew.....he's ok...

Just heard that the scans have shown it's a pinched nerve and it's probably that he'll be ok for this week.

McKernan may be fit for Sydney showdown
By Guy Hand

Sunday, July 29, 2001

THE Kangaroos today finally had some luck go their way, with star ruckman Corey McKernan's knee injury unlikely to sideline him for their next AFL showdown with Sydney.

McKernan was limping noticeably towards the end of his side's 21-point loss to second-placed Brisbane at Colonial Stadium last night.

But Kangaroos football manager Geoff Walsh said McKernan visited a specialist this morning and the injury was not as bad as first feared.

'He's pinched the cartilage in his knee and he should be able to play this weekend,' Walsh said.

Two brave losses in consecutive weeks to the top two sides have left the Roos in 12th place on the ladder and facing the prospect of missing the finals for the first time since 1992.

They are also without key players Anthony Stevens, who is out for the season with a serious knee injury, and David King, who is likely to miss Saturday night's match at the SCG with a hand injury
