Perhaps they are incensed but don't think they should have to prove it or that their rage will change the actions of the racist trolls
To look to someone who put it far better than I ever could,
Martin Luther King Jr said:
I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and that when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress. I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that the present tension in the South is a necessary phase of the transition from an obnoxious negative peace, in which the Negro passively accepted his unjust plight, to a substantive and positive peace, in which all men will respect the dignity and worth of human personality. Actually, we who engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive. We bring it out in the open, where it can be seen and dealt with. Like a boil that can never be cured so long as it is covered up but must be opened with all its ugliness to the natural medicines of air and light, injustice must be exposed, with all the tension its exposure creates, to the light of human conscience and the air of national opinion before it can be cured.

We're are supposedly going into total lockdown, good.

I have no issue with doing all this as long as the one's that DON'T adhere to the rules and just do what they like, get the book thrown at them and not just hit over the hand with a feather duster!

If they have a car, take the keys off them, or impound the car.....massive fines.....2nd offence throw them in jail for a week.......and take them through the hospitals and aged care homes and see the damage from this bloody virus.

....and shut down their social media.

This article says of the 500 known infected people door knocked, 130 were not at home. And about 100 fined for not having a valid reason for being out.

It discusses that the people being infected (and not at home) are primarily low paid casual workers who probably can’t afford to miss work and lose their job. And are having difficulty accessing the $1500 stay at home payment (it’s limited to some industries, and paid by the employer).

it’s the same demographic that is driving case numbers all round the world.

it discusses the need for the government to address paid pandemic leave across multiple industries.

I personally hope that this pandemic will, in the long term, address some of the gross inequity in our country.it’s complicated- I know people who are atm struggling to find people to work for them, but if we can get a totally new vaccine for a novel virus in 12-18 months we can get some really smart people together and find a better way to live for every body. there are like 40 people in Australia with more than $1billion dollars, while people can’t afford to stay at home when sick. That’s just wrong. Especially when the tax system facilitates the rich using structures to pay almost no tax.

I do a bit of wildlife photography mainly birds.
Decided to check out a lagoon that is also next to the Brisbane River yesterday on Metroplex Ave Murarrie
Have not been to this location before but knew their was a Brewdog Tap House & Brewery located on the river.
As i arrived at the location their was a huge line of cars leading to the area i had intended to use as a parking spot.
Initially thought this brewery is very busy on a Saturday or maybe a Saturday market or something.
Did a u turn and parked across the road.

Spoke to an attendant organizing cars and he said it is a Corona-virus testing site
He advised that it is busier than the previous days as some testing sites have shut down or moved to different locations.
I returned about an hour later the line was only about another 250 meters longer.
So they must have been processing them fairly quickly

I did not expect this many people seeking a test on the north side of Brisbane.
Though the stupid teenagers were traced to Logan, South Brisbane and Springfield.
Latest a aged care facility at Pinjarra Hills

That’s actually the South side of Brisbane, and the testing site is set up in the car park of QML, so they walk the tests straight inside to be processed.

Murrarie is definitely on the south side of the river
Old age catching up to me again
Thanks briztoon
You can actually drive up towards the Gate Way bridge, and just before the bridge access road, there is a service road that goes down under the bridge to a large car park, and there are walk and bicycle path ways back to where you want to go.

Just be careful of cyclists on the service road, as you can also access the bicycle bridge over the gate way from the car park.

And fun fact, there’s a lady who parks under the gate way every week day, and walks over the gate way every morning to work on the north side of the river. In her high heels. She has awesome calves.

Perhaps they could go on the normal dole. Better than nothing.......and then stay home.

there’s a wait time and a processing time, and casual workers with earning low dollars have likely exhausted whatever savings they have first shutdown.

just such a horrible time for a lot of people.

I started becoming unwell on Tuesday night, with a sore throat with some coughing along with fatigue. I went to work on Wednesday (I am a nurse) and felt more unwell. I went straight to my work's ED post shift and got a COVID test. I was instructed to and given paperwork to remain in self isolation for three days or until I receive my results. I got a text message on Friday morning that I tested negative and instead have Rhinovirus and was free out of self isolation. I have had increased coughing over the weekend and got next week off work. Please all do the right thing and get tested, no matter how minor your symptoms are.

Some really promising vaccine news in recent weeks. The Oxford candidate seems to be a world leader and is likely to have a final answer as to its safety and effectiveness within 5-6 weeks, the Flinders one if it comes off could have vaccines available widely across Australia by Christmas, and we also have the UQ one which a number of experts are tipping looks almost certain to succeed, and would be available to all of Australia by April/May next year on most production timelines.

Considering 12-18 months was considered the absolute best case scenario back in January when vaccine teams started working, to think that a few could actually get there earlier than 12 months and Australian ones are talking about widespread availability within 18 months is just remarkable.

There will be many narratives written about this time in years ahead, and I really hope the effort of the scientific community is one of the major headlines. Assuming one works which seems increasingly likely, this will be a genuinely groundbreaking moment in human history. Just need to hope that at least some of the science/vaccine skeptics ultimately back the science and the experts when it really matters.

Narrator: “They didn’t.”

I do remember reading back earlier in the year when Covid first started getting headlines that rushing a vaccine is a scientific impossibility.... do not know if that is now not the case.

I do remember reading back earlier in the year when Covid first started getting headlines that rushing a vaccine is a scientific impossibility.... do not know if that is now not the case.

I remember in January (when most of the vaccine teams started their work) all the experts were saying the best case scenario timeline for a vaccine is 12-18 months - we're now 7 months into that timeline, so nothing is being drastically rushed at all (except some of the reports in India and Russia of vaccines being given already that haven't cleared safety protocols).

My Aunt has spent her life working in vaccines - she was involved in the cervical cancer vaccine team - and I had a great conversation with her last night about it. Her take was that there really is no reason a vaccine can't be developed for any disease within a year if there is enough funding and effort and everything goes right. Most of the things that slow vaccines down generally are lack of either of those - things such as long processes of setting up trials, significant delays in securing and then actually accessing funding, and limited numbers of staff and resources to work on projects.

Thankfully this time around, the economic imperative could not have been greater - meaning the funding and resourcing has been first class, and the best possible scenario might even be narrowly beaten.

I think the biggest hurdle facing the vaccine now isn't finding a vaccine or even manufacturing it en masse - both seem well on track - but ensuring the general population actually trust the science and get the vaccine. There are a lot of people who have a 'gut feel' on the issue or half-read headlines or out of context quotes that have formed negative opinions about any possible vaccine, and if they stubbornly refuse to actually look into this in depth, any vaccine will fail due to low uptake. All of the scientific literature about a vaccine at present is essentially unanimous in its optimism and positivity.

If you take hydroxochloriquine and zithromax as soon as you get diagnosed you will recover quickly.

Already a couple of studies validated.

The problem is they wait until people are really sick and in ICU which is often too late.

The top epidemiologists have been on to it for weeks now . French study almost conclusive. Being used widely in Europe and the US. The problem is the majority of people can't have access.

Fwiiw I think a vaccine is a long way off. It takes a long time to validate a vaccine , produce and get access for patients . 5-8 years is the minimum timeframe if everything goes well. Of course in this instance many countries are pulling out all stops.

Fact Check: Largely false.

Not up to me to prove a negative.

Prove that musk sticks soaked in glitter, creaming soda and turpentine doesn’t cure Covid.

Please tell me your “top epidemiologists” don’t include doctors like Stella Emmanuel and her “demon sperm”.
