Corrie a steal at 93#

He used to lvoe around the corner from me up here and I sware he was down at the bkery eating meat pies every night. Would see him out for a jog every now and then and he had skinfolds like Tom Hawkins as a 17 year old...!

Corrie looks skilled, good reader of the play but also looks soft, (as in no apetite for the hard contest) and unfit, (as in too big an appetite for the bread rolls) to me.

Handy depth player at best for mine.

That what some of the Lions fans said he has good skills and reads the game well but is soft. Those I reckon that's why Voss wanted Corrie out because he said he wanted hard tough players.

For Pick 93 means cost us Nothing so even if he plays as Back-Up role for cover for Injury he still would be good.

He does look a bit big but I not sure if he is unfit, those I heard he is fitter then he was at the lions

I was critical of his drafting, but was quite pleased with his game against the eagles. Mind you, he looked to be playing loose between the HB and centre line, so he picked up quite a few easy kicks. His disposal seemed a little 'soft' at times, falling short of the mark when not under pressure, but it was the first real hit out for the season. So not a real problem yet.

True it was only 1 game and remember medders took about a season to really show much

We found him on the hard rubbish! If he's any good at all then we're winners.

I watched the NAB game a second time. Corrie was half-decent/ok/orrightIguess for 3 quarters...therefore = a massive steal @ 93. In the last quarter he had about 4 or 5 clangers, including that shot for goal on the run which got nowhere near it. People remember best what they seen last. (It's howcome Freo get rated pre-season year after year..)

If we're comparing him directly to Rhyce Shaw, well I remember Rhyce having a bunch of diabolical - even comical - skill errors in previous NAB cup matches and him being written off by the fans. But he then went on to be a half-decent player in the real deal.

All teams polish up a fair bit between now and Round One of the real.

There's certainly room enough on the list for Corrie at the price we payed.

Not every retread is gonna be a Medhurst, actually hardly any will be.

But Corrie plays for Collingwood, and I like those kind of players.

Firstly I dont agree that is first 3 quarters where ok. I thought his decision making and disposal where average throughout the game. The thing that concerned me most was the comments made by Leigh Matthews before the game. He said that voss would have got rid of him because his disposal could be sloppy and he was not very hard in a contest. This man would know his game better than anyone else and from what I saw in his first hitout nothing much had changed by moving clubs. Had Matthews incidicated he had some promise and room for improvement I would be far more forgiving of the performance.
I would be concerned if he is in our best 22 as that would suggest to me we are a fair way off the mark. I think at best he is a depth player who could come in and play a bit role if the likes of clarke/h shaw are injured.

One of the things most premiership teams have is good depth, so if thats how he is to be used, as a depth player, all good and well. If he can get fit, keep the skin folds down plus keep other players on their toes for their spots then great! I personaly think he was a 'good' get for pick 93, he played 20 odd games at brisy last year so he knows whats required of him to make the grade. The alternative is we picked a kid, who in 3-4 years time we find out they won't make the grade, Chris Eagan for instance.

Although Corrie (93) and Brown (73) were not the greatest players at their previous clubs, they have not cost us a great deal and i think (hope) they'll be handy pick ups at the pointy end of the season. The last few years we've been close, while going through a transition phaze, and with big Ant being the oldest now, i'm hopeing the team can settle into some rythm over the next couple of years and get the most out of the list.

While getting the best kids each year is always the priority, the introduction of the GC is going to make it very difficult over the next few years, so i wouldn't be surprised if we recycle more players in the future.

Or mayb MM thinks we're on the cusp of something big, and thats why we've gone for these two, i'm not sure, but i do know we did this prior to 02-03. Either way i think (hope) we're in for a big year!

All good an well for Mathews to bag Corrie now leigh has moved on, but if he is sloppy with his disposal and is soft then why did Leigh play Corrie for as long as he did last year?
I think Leigh has a few issues with the way the whole Brown thing went down last year, and the appointment of Voss, and wouldn't be surprised if he vents on air about some of his explayers this year. The whole "it wasn't me it was this player or that player that led to the slide down the ladder".
Danny frawley did the same after he was shifted on from Richmond. Actualy most exRichmond coaches do this come to think of it.
