Show what a Joke the AFL is as they did there best to get the Bummers off as much as possible.

Makes me sick to the Stomach that the AFL will do anything to save the Face of Game and let Teams get off?

Guess they Hid info from WADA and SADA.

I think there should be a Vote of No Confidence with them.

Did not post this on the Main Board for Obvious Reasons

It is hard to see AD surviving for much longer. Can Ed be AFL CEO and Collingwood president at the same time?

I understand what your saying. But unfortunately AD and the commission are their to protect the best interest of the game. For reasons such as sponsorship, tv rights (anything to do with $$$) and the integrity of the competition. It couldn't allow the bombers to be a VFL side next year and get smacked by 20 goals every week. As much as I would of loved that, its not in the best interest of the game. And that is what the commish is there to protect.

We all knew it was happening, we all knew it was going to happen, it's just come out now.

I think the problem that many people have is that AD is still denying it happened. I suspect that more evidence will be produced over the coming weeks and his position will become untenable.

Just like tanking does not happen:rolleyes:

Well the AFL and Bummers Discussed there Punishment where the AFL should of just came out and gave the Bummers a Massive Punishment

Well Bombers should of not Cheated in the 1st Place.

and I still think Bomber Thompson had a Big Role in this as he Brought in Denk and The Weapon

Im not saying what the bombers did was right. In fact, if they did cheat they should be banned and I would love that. A shit essendon would make me happy forever, but you gotta understand why AD can't allow that and can't just come out and say he brokered deals because WADA/ASADA will be back on their doorstep within 30 minutes.

As for bomber thompson, he can't be responsible for what employees do inside the club. If Dank/Robinson never used illegal substances with Geelong, Thompson would have no reason to not give them a glowing recommendation to the board. If they did well thats another story the AFL needs to investigate.

Geelong still not 100% sure they might be something behind them with the Weapon.

As in between 2006-2007 Pre-Season they Bulked Up Massivly

Little bombers fan pointing to Hird: 'Hirdy? Hirdy? Why is he running AD?'

Demetriou to little bombers fan: 'Because we have to chase him'

Little bombers fan: 'But he didn't do anything wrong'

Demetriou: 'Because he's the hero AFL deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A blonde Knight.'

Also, regarding Robbo's headline "Hearing was an illusion" - Correct me if I'm wrong, but there wasn't a hearing of anything was there? From my understanding the whole thing was just a negotiated settlement. Settled out of court so to speak. The charges weren't heard or tested at all. Essendon had the right to do that if they wished, but chose to cop a whack by way of negotiating the severity of that whack with the AFL

Hird and the AFL are very luck that this has all been bought to light now and not in 2-3 years time when WADA introduces their tough (first time they've ever been tough IMO) new rules in which staff associated with athletes who use banned substances will become just as culpable, and therefore just as punishable under anti drug rules as the athletes themselves.

The simple fact is that Hird, Thompson, Corcoran and anyone else in charge at the time of this whole farcical situation shouldn't be able to be employed by any sporting organisation for at least 2 years, but the AFL wanted a quick solution to this so they did a deal and most got off lightly, even the mastermind of it all, James Hird.

Ideally, in any sport in the world, I hope it comes to a situation where any athlete, official or staff member who was involved with illegal or banned substances be banned for life, but we are still a fair way off that it seems.

Can someone explain what this means regarding Essendon? I haven't followed the saga much at all, so struggling a bit to understand the article.

Does this make Essendon/James Hird look more guilty or less guilty now?

None of this is a shock and none of it will come to anything.

Everyone knows they were negtiating the outcome already.

That what the 2 Day talks where all about. Which was a Joke:mad:

Parties involved in litigation endeavour to negotiate an agreed outcome almost 100% of the time

This is a non story
I agree BJ. Just news padding.
There was always going to be some give & take to come up with a settlement that suited the AFL & was acceptable to Essendon (to avoid court action).
I fully support how the AFL handled this. I think the outcome was fair.
If they didn't settle this back then, they could still be in the courts.....more wasted $$$...with no outcome. The punters would be crying for AD's blood for mishandling & allowing it to drag on thru the courts.
Nothing to see here.

Hird should be booed constantly any time he sets foot on a football field until her retires.
What a repulsive crooked corrupt prick he and all the essendon mob are, they may have been let off by AD but not by football fans, hope he cops it till the end of time and gets the idea to **** off.

Nothing to see here.

This was not run like a John Grisham novel with a saga of evidence being tendered, witness accounts, witness cross-examination, sitting magistrates / judges / juries, etc ...

It was a negotiated settlement. We always knew that.

Yep we should let Hird The Terd ever forget his Cheating Ways
