If I was Cotchin, in fact if I was any AFL footballer I would be listening to what Leigh Matthews has to say. But he is right, Cotchin is not lightning quick so he won't be able to pull away from packs like Judd does. But the inference was that he plays like Lenny Hayes. That's not a bad comparison.

Funny how we all see things differently, but i don't really think Lenny Hayes is an accurate comparison. I do think Cotch has very good speed over 20 metres or so. I would say much more capable of playing the outside role than Lenny, whereas Lenny is probably better in the clearance area.

He burnt off Buddy and has ran down Pearce. Kid has speed, just hasnt had the fitness to show it.

I'd be disappointed, more talent/natural ability than Hayes imo.

He has brilliant break away pace, one of the best in the afl.

Yep ! Conducts himself very well. But I think we all knew that from quite early on. Very Level young man

We are finally breeding 'leaders' at Punt Road. Add Cotch to Jack/Conca/Astbury/Batchelor etc and it translates to a massive cultural change for the better. That's not to say I'm unhappy with Newy/Lids/Foley and Kingy.

Exactly, and like someone said his run down tackle on Pearce last year showed plenty of pace. Not gonna be noted as one of the quickest in the comp but has acceleration and moves silkily enough to play the way Judd/Ablett plays, as opposed to Hayes.
