If we lose these two... the last one out, please turn off the lights!

Richmond is yet to open contract negotiations with two of its blue-chip players, Mark Coughlan and Brad Ottens.

Tigers director of football Greg Miller last night said negotiations might begin soon but he was confident the club would retain the pair despite the strong lure both would have to return to their home states.

He said neither had expressed a desire to leave Punt Rd.

"For a player to move club there has to be a solid reason," Miller said.

"Most players don't want to talk about it until the end of the season."

South Australian Ottens, the league's leading tap ruckman, would be a perfect fit for both Adelaide and Port Adelaide.

West Australian Coughlan, the reigning club champion, is expected to be chased by West Coast and Fremantle.

Need them agreed. I think thats why they started negotiating now.

Fremantle or WC would have to offer something large for Cogo. Judd is a Richmond supporter from way back and a Vic, would we swap for him?

As for Adelaide and Port adelaide? They would have to cough up blood plus more to swap, what would they offer?

Saying that, I think that both would look at what they can see in a future in Richmond and weigh it up. I suppose where we end up this year would play that out. While we keep winning, our odds go up of keeping them.

of course we would!!!

but fat chance they would swap judd for coughlan... maybe coughlan and ottens and eight other players... the guy is a dead set superstar and as much as we all love coughlan, if we could get anywhere near judd i'd say "**** Off" to loyalty!

the way things are going if otto walks then the bulldogs will pick him up, so lets hope thet the dogs get a pick b4 the crows at seasons end.

that would mean if ottens wanted to go home then port and adelaide would have to trade with value otherwise the dogs would be laughing.

as for cogs, I will guarantee he will be at Richmond next year, even so both WA teams would have to trade with us otherwise a lower team willpick coughlan up and seriously whats the point of that!

as for Judd, he has never been a Richmond supporter, I dont know where you got that from, he has said a few times here in the west that melbourne was his team when he was younger.

I think the tiges would be offering both these guys good money to stay and we could afford them with the likes of campbell and richo probably going on the vets list next year. Kellaway and rogers retiring too will free up some space.

Plus we have the lure of both of them possibly being captain and vice captain in the very near furture.

I wouldnt want to lost either of them. Both are brownlow material.

Massive call!

I'd be interested in hearing what Adelaide and Port Adelaide would be prepared to give us for Otto.

Mark my words, l do not want to trade them, but l'm interested in seeing how much other clubs want them.

Cogs wont go anywhere. He's got a good head on his shoulders and dont think he's the sort of kid to get carried away with money being thrown at him.

I would be severly pi$$ed off if Ottens does leave. He's not given us his best. Not entirely his fault either. But he owes us a couple of injury free years before he chases the interstate money.

You would be stupid if you didnt but they are both very different players. Judd is a reciever honestly thats what he is and we have plenty of those in tivendale, johnson etc im not saying that there soft im just saying that you will find cogs and krakouer at the bottom of the pack and thats not a bad thing. if the ball comes out and johno and tiva has the ball i would be happy so saying this i would prefer cogs at this stage.

We hold all the aces if these guys want to go home. It would need to involve a trade unless the WA and SA teams nosedive disastrously this season.

Judd would be a recruiting coup though. He is a step above any comparable player of his age. Full stop.

Ottens & Coughlan

Yeh

Judd & coughlan r just as good as each udda, maybe judd slight better, & of course u would trade if that was to happen, but who would ya swap for Ottens in SA??

Im sure that the other 14 clubs will offer something. Might do the old, we're trading you to Collingwood, or something like that to get him to sign on the dotted line. If he player doesnt show the loyalty in the club, how could the club be seen to show loyalty in him. They played hardball like that before...

but I hope they both sign.

As for Chris Judd barracking for Richmond, I am sure I read his profile in the age. Did you also Crawford was a RFC supporter when younger. Would of been funny to have crawf, pinky and cogo in the middle. We would have the Pretty boy squad. :D

No it wouldnt.. how many good years does he have left in him compaired to a Coughlan or an Ottens?

nah i said would have been good to have him. i meant all along. wouldnt want him now unless they were giving him away ;)

just want to say that although this is my 100th post i dont want any fuss or fanfare it is just business as usual this week.

on the topic of the future i reckon the tigers should be thinking about trading away some of our mid range players for draft picks. im thinking of players like chaffey who would probly be seen as more value than he actually is.

Wrenny - I think you're way off the mark calling Judd a receiver. Far from it. This guy will be a dead set superstar (if he's not already). Is both an in and unders man and a runner. I would have him at the Tigers in a flash...there is not one player on our list who I would not swap him for.

Darth - I've arranged for dinner and drinks to commemorate your hundred. Don't think however that it will get you anywhere in your next contract negotiations...;)
