It is known that foward lines are getting smaller due to a diferent game style being played. With polak as you big CHB could moore play FB? I can think of 1 FF that IMO he couldn't hold down and that is Barry Hall. Is there and others other than the stars fevola, lloyd and there likes which hopefully he can hold down once he has gotten the skill.

Thoughts?

yes but...

He and Thursfield have the necessary tools, they have pace and the right size although need to bulk up. Whether he finds the confidence to cement a spot however is another thing. Im a fan of giving him a fair old chance to nail a spot in our best 22. If he stays fit this season and doesnt crack it, then its over..

Have you seen the size of Moore lately? Has put on a fair amount of bulk and will have no problem holding down a position in the starting 22 if fit.

Moore is a tank. He'll be a suprise to everyone. Late boomer but rated highly amongst Richmond players.

i am looking forward to seeing him in action this year. might shut a few people up too. he could hold down full back but not sure if he could do it week in week out on the bigger type players.

IMO There is not really a traditional Full Back anymore, because forward structures change so much during a game. It is all about match ups and Moore is going to be best suited to a midsized forward like an O'loughlin, Williams, Tarrant, Robbins, or a Burton.
He wont be suited to gorilla forwards like Hall, Gehrig, Pavlich Lynch etc.
From all accounts he has improved a lot this preseason:thumbsu:

He's the same height as Mal Michael, I actually thought he was taller, but they are both listed as 190cm.
Michael definitely has him for strength and weight, but Moore has stacked it on and should be over 90kg by the time he takes the field this year.

Together with Thursfield we have 2 athletic key defenders who will be able to take most key forwards in speed, its only the super talls (which are a dying breed) which we need someone like Polak to come good for. He's not the fastest, but training with Richo should certainly get him up to the level required to match it with the most athletic big men in the game.

Not as such, he's too short.
Ideally I see him as a third defensive tall who can release the Bowden boys to other roles and maybe pinch hit up forward himself.
Defining year.

who can forget the melbourne game when he had 20 years to kick the ball and then handballed to a stationary raines i think it was who got crunched

him and jackson better ********ing do something quick

Ignorance is bliss.
To all of you who say he is not good enough to get a game, you are wrong.
The only reason he hasn't been getting regular games is injuries.
When fit, Wallace has been more than keen to play him.
As an example, last year he missed most of the preseason and the first half of the season proper, due to injury.
When he returned, to build his fitness back up he played 1 game in the Coburg twos, followed by 3 games for the Coburg Ones before being brought back to play against Melbourne (kept Yze quiet) and the Swans (kept O'Keefe quiet after O'Keefe initially tore Kellaway a new one). Late in this second game back he injured himself again and didn't play again for the rest of the season. The footy show reported wrongly that he had been dropped when the following weeks teams were read out. If anything, Wallace probably rushed him back.
If there has been any upside to both Moore and Thursfield spending so much time on the sidelines it is that they have been able to spend a lot of time in the gym.
I loved AK as a player but I think a FIT Moore will be a more than able replacement.

As to whether he could hold down FB, I think it depends who the opposition plant at full forward. If it's Gehrig, Neitz or Rocca then definitely not. If it's some who leads more like B.Johnson, Medhurst, Tarrant, then probably yes.
The fact he has been paired up on Brown and Pettifer for the entire preseason implies that they want to play him as a third tall.
I think he is flexible enough to perform a similar task for us as Clement does for the Pies (ie play both small and tall depending on the games other matchups).

I remember that mistake well, it's amazing how so many on here have formed their entire opinion of Moore on that one mistake and the fact he hasn't been playing regular senior footy. Raines got tackled immediately and there was a ball up. He didn't get crunched. It was Moore's first game back after a long time out and I put it down to him getting used to the pace of the game again.
What I did like, was that as soon as he made that mistake he was straight back in to make amends lend a hand and bottle it up.

Anyone who has seen Moore this pre-season will back me up when i say he will shine this year.

With this being one of the most physical pre-seasons i have seen, Moore has thrived on the physicality. His body is now well equipped to hold down a position in our backline and if he is given the opportunity, i feel he could become an important part of the yellow and black.

If anybody has any doubts about this kid, go down and watch training. You'll be extremely suprised. ;)

Hi Mrs Moore

your son isnt the worst on the list but if i was him i'd want to be doing something this year

injuries is no excuse

ps - wallace loves tivendale so i wouldnt be jumping up and down that terry sees something in the kid

Mal Michael mentioned in a thread about KELVIN MOORE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Dont waste our time, that is just pure bull ********. To those who keep talking him up, you're friggen dreaming... l hope he has a good year, but for God sake, if he even gets in the 22 for just 1 game, it should be seen as a good year, because he cant do that at the moment. Talking about Hall and Michael in this thread is just pure embarassment!

lets get one thing straight...he will NEVER be as good as kellaway....NEVER

he cant manage to get a game now...what makes u think he's going to be able to hold down FB

Your last sentence cannot be directed to me because, if Moore is what I said (the next Kellaway) then he isn't going to be a FB.

Its quite obvious the way Terry is going with our side. A lot of running defenders and the KPP's are going to be very athletic who will rely on their speed and agility to beat the big power forwards.

We are going to be playing a very fast game, tall players who are not athletic will be left behind the play too often and be found out.

This is a reason why I believe Moore is getting such a long time on our list besides the fact he has been injured so much he cannot play seniors.

Moore and Thursfield will fit into our gameplan very well in a few years when we are at full flight. Polak will be the traditional FB/CHB to take the monster forward, don't expect big stats from Polak, his sole purpose will be to defend and handball to running receivers.

I'll ignore the crack about Mrs Moore as it seems to be the standard juvenile response on here when you stick up for someone.

I agree that if he doesn't perform this year he's gone. I was merely pointing out why his 2006 was so poor and yet still showed something.

Beg to differ on injuries being no excuse. By that logic Thursfield has no excuse for his dismal 2006.

Not everyone storms into the AFL. As a rookie punt Moore has had to come from a long way back. Injuries haven't helped and whilst he has taken a while I am confident he is ready to reward the club for it's patience.

first of all thursfield has actually showed something before his injury and it was plain bad luck unlike moore who has never been right for a solid period of time

better hope he rewards the club or else we are stuck with gaspar & hall for life:thumbsd:

Agree with what you've said so far... think we're on the same lines with Moore. However, as much as Gasper has been frustrating at times, even he doesnt deserve to be put in Moore's category.

Gasper has been somewhat value, even if fking expensive!

Go for your life on Hall... someone should run him over! :D

Good to see more numbers defending Moore. I was one of the originals who have watched him extremely closely. This pre-season has proved so much.

Remembering;

-Top five in team- sprints
-Most skillful player according to wallace
-Has good height.
-takes crunching pack marks regularly
-is highly respected with in the club- younger players now looking up to him.
-built like a tank

To watch a few pre-season training sessions you can clearly see he is in the better half of our team.

The members who tend to be defending Moore are the ones who have been to the pre-season training sessions.

The ones who are attacking clearly have not seen a session and are basing his form on his few senior appearances
