The AFL identify tempo footy to burn time off the clock as a problem. Why then would they introduce something that would make it much easier to execute? Idiots.

Count up clock makes it so much more intense towards the end of close matches...
You might think theres 10 seconds left, when there's really a minute.
And as mentioned above, would make it even easier to ice the clock. When yeah, the AFL is trying to get rid of that with the no kicking backwards shiz.

You've hit the nail on the head. Having it available for TV watchers at home is one thing (I don't even like that really) but giving the players access to how much time is left would make it so much easier to ice the clock and it's much more tense not knowing when the siren will blow than just looking at the clock waiting for it to tick to 0 when the winning team is kicking the ball around in defence.

As much as I love the suspense, you need to think about the players. They should know how much time they have left to know whether they should bomb it inside 50 or pass to pass it in.

It will slow the game down.
BECAUSE. A team will able to move to a slow down game plan (me looking at PA, Adel, Syd, St K and Rich in particular) because they can adapt to it earlier by just looking at the clock instead of the coach calling the runner and the runner going out onto the field and tell them.

i didnt mind it so much... until the crowd started the 10..9..8 chant at the end of the game.. that just turned me off it completely.
but i love the countdown in between quarters. good to know exactly how long is left before the match restarts

Just another typical shit idea by the AFL who think they know what everyone else wants, may as well scrap the last 2 minutes of each quarter as sides will just go kick to kick until the siren, of course most players know ROUGHLY how long is left in normal games, but your never exactly sure, what bright idea will they think of next...surely there must be a patch of green grass thats needs some more paint on it or something...

It's not Basketball FFS we don't need to know how long it will take before we can get the hell out of there.
AFL is exciting with the count up clock so hopefully they'll leave it for the season.
