Toast Courage

Just loved the one percenters tonight. Hardwicks courage from his playing days is truly coming out in our players.

  • Rance running back with the flight of the ball... amongst other desperate acts.
  • Helbig/Batchelor throwing themselves into contests without a care for themselves just desperate to hold up the ball or win the contest for the team
  • Grimes' spoiling efforts time and time again... and the sprint to spoil that ended with him pulling a hammie... awe inspiring
  • Browne battling on all match spending every last cent into the contest
  • Cotch head over the ball winning clearance after clearance
I'm sure there's other examples from tonights game that I've forgotten, but it's pleasing to see the team doing what needs to be done and FINALLY backing it up with some skill and execution (although some passages, some due to some good pressure by the Bombers, left a bit to be desired) to find a team mate in stride moving forward.

Go Tiges!!! Lovin' the return of the roar.

My favourite bit from Cotchin was when they had kicked 2 quick ones in the last and the crowd was right behind them, he seemed to lift to another level and made sure they didn't clear the ball from the centre. Big change in culture from the last few years when players would give up in the same situation.

BOG for Cotch no doubt, that clearance - he basically turned the game back our way single handedly. he is a star.

- Cotch's diving tap, head to head with Fletcher. Then got up straight away like Fletcher was a pillow.

The courage was extremely pleasing and what we've come to be able to expect from him in the contested situations, but the way he turned his body and protected himself was simply awesome.

Some have it and you can't teach it, Cotchin got a triple helping.

This is a very big call but ....

Cotchin > Lenny Hayes

and if we can say that in 10 years time we'll have a captain and a brownlow medalist .

im not denegrading Hayes ... just how highly i rate Cotchin

Fair comparison IMO, I think he's propbably going to outstrip Hayes as an offensive mid, but he has a lot yards to make up on the defensive side to match him. Certainly strong parallels between the two in courage, class, football smarts and leadership.

Funny watching the Saints and Dees thrashing it out today without Hayes and McDonald going around, both the backbones and heartbeat of their clubs for many a long year and their absence was notable both today and all the other games they've missed this year. And of course we saw it again tonight with Watson missing.

These boys are making me oh so proud. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this is the best team we have had in 25 years.

Everything about them oozes premiership soon :thumbsu:
