With benny at his very best form where do u rate him amongst the competition.

I'd rate him about 10th-15th in the competition.

I completely redid my Footy Fanatic Lists a couple of weeks ago going through the entire competition, and i ranked him at number 12 or 13.

Pre season I would have had him about 5.

In the early season he did nothing, but in the last 6 weeks or so has shown his worth and I'd say he'll head our votes again in the Brownlow, and will probably be in the top 6 - 8.

If he had better disposal by foot and greater penetration, he'd go from about 10th to top 4, imo.

I'd have 5 Eagles in the top 50, Gardiner top 10, Cousins 15-25, Wirrpunda and Judd also in the top 25 to 40 somewhere and Embley in between 40-50. Just outside, I'd have Fletcher and Phil Matera.

Based on this season alone I would think that Fletcher would be above Judd and Wirrpunda, but that's just an opinion.

Fletcher has had a better season than both, and Cousins too but those 3 are better footballers than Fletcher. If it was solely based on this season, I'd have Matera in my top 50 too.

If you base it solely on this season you'd have to rate Embley a lot higher than 40-50 (IMO he's been our second best over the year behind Gardiner). Probably the most irreplaceable player in our side.

Yeah, I didn't base it on this year, I based it on how good I think they are. Obviously this season plays some part in that.

Although I'd have Cousins closer to 25 than 15 and Embley closer to 40 than 50.

Cousins' kicking action lets him down too often to be in the top 20 IMO.

Yeh I can see where this is going - be interested to see where you rank the freo stars in comparison ??

You don't honestly think Cousins deserves to be in the top ten, do you?

As Kenny said, 15 - 25 is a fair ranking, although when listing my top fifty I'd probably have him closer to 20 - 25 due to some of his kicking deficiencies.

My allocation of somewhere between 8 - 12 is alot more realistic than your blatant biased option of 20 to 25.

Where would you rate Bell/ Pavlich ??

Pavlich I'd have somewhere between 8 - 12 and Bell between 15 - 25, in the same bracket as Cousins.

Where would you rate Bell/Pavlich/Hasleby?

Pav, and Cousins are on par with Bell just inches behind.

Cousins would have to be the most effective mf out of the 3 but Pav would be a better utility/KPP ( more versatile). Bell doesnt have the grunt that cousins possess's but certainly on par with ball magnetism. All great players and both Pav and cousins in the top 12 depending on the day.

It will be interesting to see how the freo stars go in finals footy

Make a list of the top 50 players, then count how many eagles are in there. Its one thing throwing up names and numbers, its quite another actually comparing them to other top AFL performers.

For the record, on this years performance I believe Matera, Cousins, Gardiner, Fletcher and Wirrpunda would be almost shoe ins for the top 50. Biased opinion of course.

In theory, each team should average three players in the top fifty, and if results are anything to go by, Freo and the Eagles should have slightly more than that since they both sit in the top half of the ladder.

carlton would have 0 so you can have a couple of their spots.

Voss, Buckley, and McLeod are on the top tier - judged on how good and consistent they have been over the last few years. Cousins would be on the next tier down along side a heap of other players.

Cousins at around 12 or so. Gardiner possibly top 10.

Pavlich around 20 and Bell around 25.

That's how I see it.

Bell was inspirational on Saturday with his toughness at the footy and willingness to put his body on the line over the footy. In contrast, Cousins was unsighted for three and a half quarters on Sunday.

Cousins more grunt than Bell? I think not.

I think its a case of perception and opinion. I didnt see the freo game - so i cant comment. This discussion has ran its course. If you think Bell has more grunt - go nuts.

Cousins was actually unsighted for 1 half not 3.5 quarters. Maybe you need to revisit primary school fractions.
