Why did they appoint him as ruck coach???? Stupidist move of all time.
How can a player coach another whos competing for a spot in the 22 ??
It does'nt make sense , Coxy please give it up or else Lycett will say bye bye.

Yeah can't imagine what Lycett and Sinclair could possibly learn from a ruck man with almost 300 games experience and multiple AA's to his name

How to tarnish your legacy by playing for frees instead of the ball?

Thats my point , hes competing for the same spot on the team and recieves match payments for the games he plays , why would it be in his interest to step down and let Sinclar or Lycett play instead???
Do you honestly think the MC are going to tap him on the shoulder and let him know its time, Coxy has far too much clout around the club to let that happen.

Cox won't step aside if his body is fine and he's still enjoying his football .
I would get him to 300 games then let him retire after that game .

What if staying around for another year and a half means we lose Lycett/slow his development?

I think Cox is on 283 games now plus say 10 more games till season ends means maybe 293 games .If he still wants to go on next year Yes I'd give him the 7 games required to break into the 300 game club.
His form isn't too bad that he needs to retire at the end of the year and I guess Lycett wouldn't feel too hard done by if he knew Cox would retire on 300 odd games ..

Cox is making little impact these days and plays for free kicks too much, wouldn't mind it he retires at season's end, but still doing much better than Embley and Selwood did last year. Getting to 300 doesn't help the club.

And he should keep it that way. Perhaps he stays on next year as depth or backup and spends most of the time coaching. If Naitanui goes down he'd come straight in for him ahead of playing Lycett and Sincs in the same team.

Don't like keeping players on to reach milestones, we clearly need to promote youth, so Cox should retire at seasons end and let Lycett take over. Outstanding career a champion of our club

If Cox plays every game from here on end he'll be on 294 at season's end. If he does that he must get to 300, if they are going to pull the pin on him they have to do it soon. However I don't think he's playing that bad. He's not at the 2012 level anymore and he never will be again but he's still a decent Ruckman.
Exactly we tend to judge him by his own lofty standards.
Probably in top five rucks in comp still.

Just on Coxy, Did anybody else catch the post match on 6pr?

They were discussing his game today when Hardie, out of the blue, goes off on a tangent stating that he's heard whispers around that Lycett & Sinclair both don't believe Cox (i.e. the ruck coach) is putting the required time & effort into them, resulting in both looking outside the club for guidance/mentoring.

Not much else was said & they just moved on with the discussion.

Probably complete muck being that it came from Hardie...

would really hope Cox does the honourable thing and retire mid-season. Couldnt even take advantage of hawthorns depleted ruck stocks today.

Just a liability.

Cox should retire and focus on his position as our ruck coach and help the development of Lycett and Sinclair, with him not playing he will be able to help them full time, he would be pretty good in a coaches role like Adam Selwood, Nikoski.
