I was a bit surprised last year when Flint was elevated to the senior list for 2007. Usually this occurs the year after a player performs well in the seniors as a rookie elevation. He hasn't played a senior game for the blues and he still got elevated to the senior list in 2007.

I don't think there would be many players in the comp that have been elevated to the senior list of there club without playing a game in the seniors as a rookie.

Apparently he was impressive until he broke his leg. I would have rathered Jackson myself based on what I've seen, but I didn't get to watch the Bullants all that closely in 2006. I'll defer to the football department's judgement on this one and let's hope we see Flint star this year.

Are you a troll ?

I take it you've never seen Craig Flint perform in the VFL before?

Was very impressive.

Was also an impressive General for the Gippsland premiership defence.

I have seen him play in VFL a few times. Just thought it was strange because just if you play good footy in the VFL it doesn't mean you will be a good AFL player.

It would have been nice to see him in the Seniors for a couple of weeks in 2006 before putting him on the 2007 senior list.

There are so many people that play awesome in the VFL and are duds in AFL. VFL form means very little. Players like sporn, doering, smith, gallagher, eccles, chambers, teague, bannister, mcgrath, merrington, clarke, johnson, prendergast, morrell, bowyer, davies, deluca, kenna and mccormick all dominated in the VFL, but duds in the AFL.

he was very close to playing seniors last year, but got injured at the wrong time

IMO his elevation had a bit to do with:
thornton possible leaving
setanta still an unknown quantity
hartlett being injury prone
livo being delisted
rewarding a player who has not put a foot wrong so far

Instead of calling people trolls, came back and say something that makes sense like bibi01 did.

You couldn't possibly not believe that what i said about all those players was wrong. sporn and doering got 40 - 50 touches in VFL, but did nothing in AFL. Open your eyes.

bluesrules we hear what you are saying, YES those players were all AFL duds spot on, no one is disputing that fact, every club would have a list close to that long over the past 5 years.

The thing that most of us don't like on here is your comparing guys at carlton that havn't played any senior footy yet to the other dudds. Give them a chance to prove they are a decent player or a dudd before throwing them into this catergory that is all. Give these 1st year players a year or two before writing them off. that is all mate!

I'm gunna sound like a dip weed here, but I'll throw it out anyway.

I always thought Sporn was going to make it at AFL level. The worst thing he could have done was to shut down James Hird early in his career, for it meant he was forever to be played out of position at AFL and never got the confidence to play to his potential.

I suppose everyone gets some right and some wrong. I guess I got that one wrong.

Now I feel like Leigh Matthews after he hit Neville Bruns, when he said something like "I was just waiting for them to come at me".

Untimely and reccurrent injuries also wrecked Sporn. I thought he would make it too.

Am very keen to see Flint stand up at senior level and add depth in the backline. With another keen defender in the mix it gives the boys more incentive to perform to get a spot in the 22 which is great. Disappointed though that Jackson was not promoted. Looks to be nearly ready so hopefully when he is promoted he will be an even better player and have an impact.
