craig - the moves that worked

i only get to see on tv, so unless a commentator mentions it, it's very hard to see structural moves made by the coaching group. unless they're very obvious.

one of the criticisms of craig's coaching is his lack of match day tactical nouse. my understanding is that it's not that he makes bad decisions all the time, it's more that he makes no decisions. i'm a massive fan of stiffy, but he is getting tagged out of the game. most coaches wouldn't sit through 3 entire games and watch this happen. neil craig appears to have just done that.

subbing maric off was a master-stroke, but he probably should have done that at the opening bounce. then we wouldn't have been a player down until late 3rd quarter when port subbed in their fresh man.

what other changes did they make during the game.

I liked that Tippett started in the ruck. Maric, IMO, was superfluous and shouldn't have been in the squad.

superfluous is being very kind. his inclusion cost us a rotation until he was subbed out and gave us jack in the ruck. he certainly wasn't superfluous to the power.

I didn't see the point of even having Maric in the side if Tippet was going to start in the ruck. Especially when Smack is in the team as well.

surely this is a purely individual thing...

did NC move any of his players to heighten this motivation last night...

the only one I can see was M Wright being subbed into the game.

tip starting in the ruck...but nothing to back it up...
