I admit I am very vague on his SANFL performances.

I am hoping this thread can be a bit of a discussion about the results Craig produced at Norwood. There are many Norwood fans or even strong SANFL followers here that have opinions.

According to Rucci, Norwood finished 7th, 7th, 2nd(GF loss), 4th, 3rd in Craigs 5 years. We all know Rohde then went on with this squad and finished the job with a premiership.

On the surface that record doesn't look as bad as I had been led to believe. He obviously deserves some credit for building the team that Rohde won the premiership with. And he went from having two poor seasons to a team that was a consistent finalist and challenger.

I'd love people's opinions of what he did with his list at Norwood.

Premierships can't be the only factor. Mark Williams didn't get spectacular results at Glenelg. Most agree that Shaun Rehn is doing a fine job with West Adelaide yet they are struggling to make the 4 at the moment.

Please discuss Craig's SANFL coaching record.

Its good topic ****:)

His record is not shambles but its not great either. From his Norwood days Craig has a reputation of being a great developer of youngsters. I think this could be the reason he got the job. However, his match day coaching and style is diabolical.

my issue isnt so much that craig was appointed - its more so the stupidity of the pretend coaching selection process, its like they were in grade 1 pretending to be super hereos - we could all see what was happening but in their imagination they were running a professional investigation into a coach,

Norwoood was a finals choker under Craig. Centrals snapped its 21+ year finals losing streak against Craig's Norwood side, and Centrals entered it's first GF at the expense of Craig's Norwood side.

Not that we would make the finals under Craig, but if we do, Port won't need to worry about its finals record because ours will be worse.

Remember that Prelim loss was a one in a million thing though, From memory i thought he did OK, he took a squad that had lost Francis, Kelly and Pascoe(with Pike soon to follow) over the border, A.Jarman to the Crows and vets like Warhurst,Aish,Scanlon,Hall,Hein and Fosdike to the old folks home over a couple of years and still kept them around the mark, of course having the best player in the state Crows or otherwise in the side(Macca) helped a bit too.

Managing an SANFL list isn't the same thing as managing an AFL list though; there's generally less stability. It can be done; look at Central over the last few years. From his SANFL record, he didn't strike me as an obvious AFL choice.

Being a Bays man I can't say with autority but he did whinge a lot about the AFL taking all his youngsters (but I don't know who they were). he was also critical of playing crows players as they were not a true part of the team.

I think he has grown up a lot since then but I gota say I like the single mindedness of team first and everyone else can bugger off.
