This almost warrants jail IMO. Thank god somebody caught him as it would have only been a matter of time before he was in an accident.

A P-PLATER who received his driver's licence just over two weeks ago was caught allegedly driving 57km/h over the speed limit on the Calder Freeway last night.

The 18-year-old Sunbury resident was pulled over between Diggers Rest and Sunbury after he allegedly reached speeds of 167m/h in the 110km/h zone just after 7pm.

Police said the teenager was talking on his mobile phone while driving.

The driver has lost his license for 12 months and will pay $1020 in fines for speeding, driving too closely to other traffic and using his phone while driving, police said.

His car has been impounded for 48 hours.

What concerns me the most was he was using is mobile which immediately tells me he wasn't paying the enough attention to that was required. Got what he deserved

Meh will just be back driving in 48 hours anyway
Yep.
I was driving down the Hume yesterday, and inbound to Melbourne, there were maybe 4 sets of speed cameras within about 10mins of driving down the road, as well as one set, then 30 seconds later hidden behind a bridge, another one.

Instead of spending all this money on the cameras, how about the govt pay cops to sit outside the house of recently suspended drivers for the day and pick them up for driving whilst suspended.

The threat of (up to) 1 month inprisonment and a court appearance/conviction might actually convince them to not drive.

How can there be any excuss for that complete disregard for human life? Could so easily have killed someone.

Impound his testicles for 48 hours then sew them back on, stuff impounding his car.

Scunbury, I stopped reading there. You see a stack of "hoons" on Kew Boulevard, an absolute racetrack. The Police would have a field day there.

"Busy? Nah man, just driving ho"

One of the guys at my work had the nerve to call himself a better driver then me. I turned around and told him his argument would work if he hadn't been doing 80km over the limit and lost his licence.

Another person I know (a guy who I've known since I was 13 and stopped talking to late last year) got a DUI a few years ago and lost his licence for 6 months. He still drove during that time. I was stalking him on facebook last week and he had posted an update at 3am one morning about being arrested. All his friends were like "Ohh what for?" and his stupid girlfriend posted "For a DUI :)" WTF?! He was apparently 4 times the limit.

A mate of mine rolled his car, yet considers himself a good driver.

Actually, he's not a mate of mine.. I hate that douche and haven't spoken to him (or barely) since high school. Its been awesome :thumbsu:

Was on Pascoe Vale Rd this evening picking up some takeaway (pretty ordinary, the green curry was lacking chicken and the pad thai was a bit heavy on the citrus) and some guy overtook on the wrongside of the road, across double unbroken lines about fifty metres from the intersection.

Was head shakingly bad and actually heart in the mouth type of stuff.
