Massive news down here. Extensive coverage on the news last night. None of the players including the captain knew that it was coming.

Mate. I now live in vic but as a Tasmania by birth I have plenty of family still in Tassie.

We heard news he had carried on like a twerp the night after the devils played Nth Ballarat in a club and fought with a couple of the devils players who originally tried to pull him away.

Than during the week a director of the devils has been preparing his resignation due to this incident and more. The following week they got thumped at York Park by Sandrinham by 150 points. The talk I've been hearing has been of this day coming.

I love cressa but the word is he cant handle his alcohol.

The more news that breaks on the subject the stranger it seems. The fact that he didn't just resign, he actually left the state straight away and turned his phone off is very weird.

A real shame. Played the game with integrity - a pity the coaching hasnt seemed to work out for him.

Leaving the country sounds like a worry - hope he is alright.

more news, cressa believed to have gone to England, watch this space!
Which team plays there?

BTW, Tassie fell agonisingly short in a tremendous last quarter come back.

Just looking through some of Tassie's results this year. I think games like this one can cause a 'loss of passion'!

Sandringham 3.6 10.12 18.14 31.17-203
Tasmania 4.4 4.6 5.9 7.9-51

Ouch. (and they were leading at the end of the 1st!)

From the Mercury (South Tas paper).

FORMER Tasmanian Devils coach Daryn Cresswell has gone overseas while owing a large amount of money to Tassie Mariners coach Andrew Mellor.
The debt is in relation to a joint Gold Coast investment property in Mellor's name.
Yesterday, after the Tasmanian under-18s' loss to Vic Metro, Mellor reluctantly admitted the debt, believed to be about $100,000.
Cresswell, 37 and a member of the Tasmanian and Sydney Swans teams of the century, resigned as Devils coach last Wednesday saying he had lost the passion to coach and did not believe he would be reappointed after this season.
He flew out of Tasmania that afternoon and is now believed to be in London.
"I don't want to go into that sort of stuff but there have been a few issues we're trying to work through," Mellor said.
"I'm going to give Daryn a bit of breathing space until he sorts himself out and then we will sit down and talk about those things.
"There is an investment we are in and so on. Daryn's had a few problems, he's trying to sort them out.
"I was going to give him a bit of time to do so and I'm sure he'll come to the party and try and sort out everything else."
Mellor said yesterday he was not sure what would happen if the money was not repaid.
"I'll cross that bridge later but it is not going to come to that (legal action)," he said.
"Daryn's going to work it out and we'll talk about it when he gets back."
Cresswell, who was a Brisbane and Geelong assistant coach, twice appeared in the Tasmanian Debt Collection Service trade gazette for owing $13,935 to Sportsbet Pty Ltd and $1586 to Aaron John Ball, but on both occasions the plaintiffs confirmed to the Mercury it was a mistake.
It was also rumoured the former Sydney Swans star borrowed money from players – rumours AFL Tasmania and Cresswell denied.
Yesterday, for the first and only time, AFL Tasmania chairman Dominic Baker spoke out about Cresswell's mid-week, mid-season departure.
"Daryn is probably the most well supported member of our football group," he said.
"We worked very hard with him to build a structure around him last year that ensured he had every opportunity to succeed, so to see him pull the pin halfway through the year is very disappointing."
Baker confirmed Cresswell would not receive any money from AFL Tasmania as he had walked out on his job.
But he did say Cresswell's appointment was not a mistake.

FORMER Sydney Swans star and AFL coach Daryn Cresswell has been arrested and charged with six counts of fraud, and now faces extradition to Queensland.
The 38-year-old was arrested at North Sydney police station at 2pm (AEST) today and charged with six outstanding warrants, a police spokesman said.
"The warrants relate to fraud offences allegedly committed in Queensland,'' the spokesman said.
"It is expected Queensland police will seek the man's extradition from NSW when he appears in Manly Local Court (on Wednesday).''
Cresswell played 244 games for the Swans, including the 1996 grand final, before retiring at the end of 2003.
Cresswell was also assistant coach at the Brisbane Lions, before stepping down in 2006, and at Geelong.
