The series hasn't really developed a great deal over the last decade or so. There's a few positives in that list of changes, but nothing groundbreaking. I don't see a need to buy this version.

All I can say is, how often do you see a game try to go all out with new features and stuff them up completely? Or ignore existing flaws? One of the best things about Cricket Captain 2009 in my opinion is the amount of little flaws and annoying things that have been removed. Things like letting you declare during intervals, fixing the match screen up. No, there are no ground-breaking changes, but there have been a lot of fixes, and the game plays better than ever.

The idea of Cricket Captain over the last two years after the disaster that was Cricket Captain III (2007) has been to get everything right, and it's been a tumultuous year with publishers going into administration.

I would expect "little flaws and annoying things" to be fixed by a patch. I would certainly not want to pay out more money to fix things that should not have been an issue in the first place.

They would do well to learn from the likes of Shrapnel Games, which provide both fixes and enchancements for a year or more after the release of their game.

The last thing a game with extremely weak copy protection needs is to lose goodwill of customers.

Exactly. Agree with all of this.

They need to start doing more, they have been far to lazy, with the only change since 2005 being a 3D match engine, they seem to just release the ssame game each year with minor changes.

And they need to bring in Sheffield Shield.

just went up to local eb games to pre-order my copy. they informed me it wont be released until august, then i checked the eb games website and it also says the august release date which has changed from last time i checked

has the release date been put back or just eb making an error?

damn i hope it comes out ASAP.

i saw eb games say it will be $50 (but thats with $20 off), any better price than that anyone has seen or heard?

Pretty sure a trial version is out now. Will have a look at that before making my decision regarding purchase.

Still confusion over release date. I'll say the same thing as I said about Ashes Cricket 2009, surely the time to release would be the day before the first test starts, ie today. Surely this is when interest is highest and would maximise any advertising campaing ten fold.

In any case, hope to hear some news soon. I'll let you guys know how the trial is.

yeah it is out now, played the trial but probably wont be buying it...a few minor improvements but nothing to be spending another $50 or whatever it is on

Yeah the demo is pretty fun I must say. Am getting r*ped in the ashes though. Lost the first test comprehensively and drew the second, things not looking good though. I don't know if I will buy this though. I think I can get by with Ashes Cricket 2009.
