My wife played Women's Cricket, including for SA, decades ago, though there were only a few teams then. Many more, and organised, now.

She was a medium fast bowler and way too scary for me.

Got 7/22 against men once, in the country in a low grade.

Wasn't allowed to play against men after that!

Our u16 association squad took on the women's state team 20 or so years ago and wiped the floor of them. I reckon the games come on a fair bit since, but they are still miles away from senior men's higher grade cricket.

TheBeardAmigos clearly you're involved in some capacity with women's cricket.

Did you get any feedback when England's best player, Sarah Taylor, represented my old club at A Grade district level against men?

I can't remember if she actually batted or not ??

Having said that, the gap is that massive. I don't think it will ever take off apart from the T20 stuff pretty much piggy backing the men's comp.
actually, im not involved in womens cricket in any official capacity (or any for that matter). My uncle is however and was a major part in the structure of the WA state team. I have trained with the WA state team and met most of the Australian and English team. obviously, no feedback about Sarah Taylor, but i heard that she dominated in 1st grade before playing for the Strikers and SA Scorpions. from memory, she opened the batting or batted 3 and made a bucketload of runs.

Ill admit that the gap is pretty big between the mens and womens cricket, but with more time and money being invested into it, it will surprise some people on just how big it will become in the future. I accept other peoples opinions, but saying that district teams would beat the Australian womens team or another national team is just comical!

England trail by 49 with 5 wickets and a day left. Must be near the end of the day as the no. 10, JT Ball has come in ahead of Buttler, Woakes and Rashid.
And Ball has gone off the last ball of the day and England are still 49 behind but with only 4 wickets left.

Mate I'm saying the local church league thirds would beat the Women's Australian team, let alone a District side. You are either too close to this or have NFI.

Found some quotes from that game -

'It's been a rollercoaster ride,' she said. 'This is a step up from the cricket I've played with the Walmley men's team in Birmingham, and sometimes you want to refresh yourself with other challenges.'

'The pace of the bowling was what I'd expect, but the main difference is that I spent 90% of my time standing back.'
'In women's cricket, I stand back for Katherine Brunt and the first few overs from Anya Shrubsole, but the rest of the time I'm standing up to the stumps.'

Karen Rolton, one of Australia's all time best players wasn't overly crash hot when she consistently played B and C Grade district cricket for Port Adelaide against the men.

Men's District sides would slaughter the Australian women.

You may remember this axeman, but didn't one of, ( if not the best ) female cricketer in the world at the time, play district B grade for Port Adelaide 5 or 6 seasons back?
I think her name may have been Karen Rolton, but I'm not sure about the surname.

Edit
sorry didn't see your post above until just after I pressed the send button.

According to mycricket she played 3 first grade (men's) games. Listed to bat at 8 in 2, and batted at 5 in a 20/20 to score 11*

In the other two games she only batted once, for a duck.

I assume you meant men's first grade when you were talking about her dominating.

i just need to ask, why do you think lowly ranked district sides would slaughter the womens team? what are you basing this off?

Referring to Taylor's commentary regarding rarely standing back to bowlers, it's a different ball game being out of your comfort one and facing a bowler that rushes you more than you're used to.

The reaction time is different, the feet don't move quite as quickly and picking gaps off these bowlers is a lot harder than milking medium pacers all day for singles.

They would struggle with the power of men and the speed of the game, plain and simple.

The lollipops, half trackers and full tosses I regularly see when I watch women's cricket. District cricketers being able to bowl at or up to 130km per hour. The ability of district cricketers to be able to face bowlers bowling at 130km per hour.

Just putting it out there: I have a feeling that Pakistan's batsmen will be humiliated in Brisbane this week. Only 2 of their batsmen passed 50 this week in the practice game in Cairns, and now they have to face the pink ball against Starc, Hazlewood, Bird and hopefully Sayers. Good luck boys: you'll need it.

To be fair, our blokes may not fare much better. Pakistan has a menacing fast bowling attack, so our guys will have their work cut out for them. So much depends on Smith and Warner!!!

So if anybody has a ticket for day 4 on Sunday, they may very well be asking for a refund.

she didnt say she felt rushed by the bowlers, just that it was strange standing back most of the time. ill agree the reaction time is different, but most guys playing 1st or 2nd grade cricket dont bowl more than 125-130 kph, which isnt that big of a step up from the Perrys, Brunts and Fitzpatricks of the womens game. then take a step even further, most guys i face in 3rd division/4th division would be around 110/120 kph. dont necessarily agree with the power statement either, a lot of the women are quite strong and use a mixture of power and timing to score their runs.

Speed of the game is the same as far as im concerned tbh. so not a problem there

As you said, we shall agree to disagree.

just a suggestion, if you dont like womens cricket, then why do you watch it?

Meh the standard of mens cricket ain't that flash either the bat sizes are ridiculous and you can add too many tame pitches blah blah I have more respect for tons guys like Slater, Taylor, S. Waugh etc. made in the 90s. Better attacks, tougher conditions, batting with toothpicks against Wasim, Waqar, Ambrose, Walsh etc.

*Half of these cowboys now would be averaging mid 30's in that time

Maybe your standards were too high to begin with ?

Ratings for the three-match one-day series against New Zealand were down a whopping 32 per cent on the previous summer with not even a turnaround in fortunes for the Aussies able to stop a viewership bleeding that started during the Test series against South Africa.
