Hey guys - where do you think the strengths/weaknesses lie in my team?

Roto league with usual scoring categories. League ended up being a lot deeper than expected. I made a few silly picks (e.g. Charlie V) but overall I'm pretty happy.

Draft result as follows:

1. (6) Stephen Curry (GS - PG)
2. (19) Brook Lopez (NJ - C)
3. (30) David West (NO - PF)
4. (43) Russell Westbrook (OKC - PG)
5. (54) LaMarcus Aldridge (Por - PF,C)
6. (67) Channing Frye (Pho - PF,C)
7. (78) Caron Butler (Dal - SG,SF)
8. (91) Luol Deng (Chi - SF)
9. (102) Evan Turner (Phi - SG,SF)
10. (115) Mehmet Okur (Uta - C)
11. (126) Tiago Splitter (SA - SF,PF,C)
12. (139) Charlie Villanueva (Det - PF)
13. (150) Derrick Favors (NJ - PF)

Top of my head, you took West way too early, Turner and Favors look terrible so far, Okur has a serious injury.

The team could do with a bit of work.

You need a 3rd source of assists.
You've only got 1 decent shot blocker and no-one who grabs more than 10 boards per game
You've got 3 rookies who prob won't make much impact.
Of your three 3-point shooters, one will be injured for a while and another is pretty much rubbish at every other category, but since you have so few 3's you're handcuffed into playing him.

At least your ft% and t/o's look pretty strong.

Deng/Butler/Aldridge would be the 3 most expendable guys.
Try to trade them for a 3-point shooting PG or a shot blocking big man. A 3-point shooting wingman would also help.

PG targets
Expensive: Nash
Mid-range: Mo Williams/Brooks/Nelson/Augustin
FA list: Hinrich/Blake

Big man targets
Expensive: Duncan/Noah
Mid-range: Biedrins/Okafor/Haywood (you'd take a hit in ft% but you need the rebs/blks)
FA list: Dalembert/Yao

So your team could end up as:
PG: Curry
SG: Butler or cheap 3-pt shooter
G: Westbrook
SF: Deng or cheap 3-pt shooter
PF: West
C: Lopez
C: new big man
U: Villanueva or Frye
U: 3rd PG
B: Okur
B: scrub
B: scrub

Oh, and nothing wrong with the Charlie V pick...should get playing time in Detroit and can contribute in a variety of cats which is obviously good for roto.

Just picked my team in the JS Bucks fantasy league, something to note, this is a 15 cat H2H league.
I have given up on Ft%, assists, and Fouls

1. (4) Dirk Nowitzki PF
2. (17) Carmelo Anthony SF
3. (24) Kevin Love PF,C
4. (37) Zach Randolph PF,C
5. (44) Blake Griffin PF
6. (57) Roy Hibbert C
7. (64) JaVale McGee PF,C
8. (77) Eric Gordon SG
9. (84) Anthony Morrow SG,SF
10. (97) Rodney Stuckey PG,SG
11. (104) Drew Gooden PF,C
12. (117) Michael Beasley PF
13. (124) Reggie Williams SG,SF
14. (137) Wesley Johnson SF
15. (144) Linas Kleiza SG,SF

Very thin in the guard area, and since this list I have traded Williams for a back up point guard.
Would like your thoughts Hans as you seem to know your stuff.
Im happy with the team, if I can win 8 cats every week Im in the finals.

Hard to analyse the team without knowing what the exact cats are.

I'm guessing the standard 9 + Fouls, ORebs, DRebs, 3pt%, FTM and FGM (or perhaps even A/TO ratio)?

And I'm guessing those extra rebound cats are why you took big guys with your first 7 picks (though McGee at 64 still seems really early).

Obviously you ain't going for a balanced team so you've got to load up your strengths and prop up a couple of your dodgy cats. I presume your best 8 are:
Rebs, ORebs, DRebs, Blks, FG%, T/O, FTM, 3pt%

Also looks like you could be competitive in Pts, FGM, 3PTM

Despite all your big guys I actually think you need at least 1 more shot-blocker.
If Gooden and/or Beasley get out to a strong start they could be trade bait to either fill this need or strengthen the aforementioned 'competitive' cats.

Love and Randolph are 2 big guys who don't block shots either - but they are invaluable as far as rebounding goes - I wouldn't trade either unless you get a fantastic offer from another owner. Good picks there.

Wesley Johnson can hit 3's at a good %...you just have to hope he gets enough playing time so that he can at least contribute in other areas. If he doesn't, you may have to cut him loose.

Stuckey's kind of a frustrating fit for the team. Rebounds and gets to the line but doesn't shoot 3's. Hard to determine whether his strengths outweigh his weaknesses.

No need to make any panic moves with this team, it looks good based on how I presume the league is set up...just see how the first couple of weeks play out, determine which areas you need to improve and move on from there.
