But its not even their own country! They are all Australian born yet for some reason grow up thinking their Croation. This isnt just Croats though it seems to be an issue with all kids from Balkan countries. I find its cringe worthy that people parade around in flags of a country to which they have never lived in or even visited. All that comes of it is the re-igniting of old issues, which the people involved in those issues came to Australia to get away from, yet their grandkids and kids carry on like they are better then everyone else because they have "heritage" and "culture".

I was told by a friend that a friend of his would not even talk to me because i am of Macedonian decent, does that make any sense to anyone? I have never met this guy before then but because my grandparents were born in a different country to his I'm his enemy? This is the type of ****ed up thinking that goes on in these people's brains. There really isnt anything that can be done to combat this, apart from encouraging assimilation into Australian society.

Anyway to get back on topic dicks like these shouldn't be welcome at the tennis, people hang shit on the Aussie Fanatics yet i don't ever recall them being violent.

100% correct. It's the worst when they try and say how great their country is and how bad Australia is etc yet their family chose to move over here, I wonder why? It's like these Balkan kids are born with a chip on their shoulder towards Australia because our country will always be superior politically and economically to their heritage/homeland.

I grew up and had a large number of Croatian friends.

All of them loved Australia and said that they had family members who would put Australia down, always saying how much better their own country was. Nothing they could do would make them think any better.

They all felt that it was the parents. The parents would move out here with their siblings and make a new life for themselves. However, it was usually the reverse order than what it was back "home" in who was more successful.

The one's who were successful back home because they were older or had more opportunity back their struggled while the ones who always had to work for what they got in Croatia always got ahead -- because Australia loves a good work ethic. If you're willing to work hard you'll make it.

Not surprisingly the kids who have the bad attitude about this country and behave like that were brought up to believe that Australia is a horrible place compared to their homeland and "oh how they miss it".

Yet, I don't ever recall somebody putting a gun to their parent's head and telling them "You either move to Australia or I'll kill you." I know their homeland has been at war, but still, they didn't have to come here.

A few bad eggs spoils the whole bunch. By and large most Croats are great people. However, it is true - you will find absolute buffoons from every racial, cultural and religious background.

Don't give these idiots the time of day.
 
You ask any kid born in Australia with European heritage what nationality they are and they'll tell you that they are their European heritage.

I agree with the part about being brought up to hate Australia, but I find it interesting that 1. They've never been to their homeland and 2. Don't want to go and live there.

The other problem is with the whole world calling us racist and these pricks marching up to the Australian Open like Nazi's, it'll make people question if Australia is the right place for a Grand Slam tournament.

In saying that, I don't have a problem with people dressing up in a country's colour, but I do have a problem with people thinking that if they dress up as a Croatian, Serb, Greek etc that they have the right to start throwing flares and chairs around in their sick Adidas hoodies so they look like hard****s.
