Champion bloke, loyal Swans servant. Has had a crap year because of injury. What more is there to say?

The guy is finished. Too slow.

Is that based on the whole 3 games he played this year? Have your cry like the rest of us and move on to next year. We'd be celllar dwellers if it werent for players like Jared Crouch.

Excuse? Can you elaborate and please be objective. Crouch was slow last night..did a few things which gifted pies a goal.

Crouch is a core group who Roosy needs to cut his friendship with. its either footy of friendships.

Half of the team did things that "gifted" the Pies goals last night. Ok Jared may have been slow last night. Does that mean that his career should be cut right now, because he had an off night in his 3rd game back from serious injury? And you reckon I need to be objective? Make your judgements when there is actually something to assess - 3 games is nothing.

Which player are you going to start a thread on next?

Crouch is gone. he wouldn't even make it in the tigers 22. He is gone. Too slow and is taking up the space of youngster.

And he isn't getting any younger and pace is one of the first things that go as you get older.

Get my drift?

while i may not agree with everything Chiko says, some players have performed poorly for the whole season and not just last night.

I applaud Chiko for having the tenacity to question the future of some players.

A reminder to everyone who wish to debate on particular players to frame their arguments in terms of season performance and not on one or two games

That's kinda my arguement . How can you judge Crouch on 3 games? He basically missed an entire season.

I do have t agree to a point including crouch at the expense of some one like Schmidt is plain ridiculous. I do agree he isnt right now in our best 22 but like someone else said it is only 3 games back give him a preseason and next year to see what he can do.

He'd still get a game for Richmond.

I believe he can add good future value to the Swans.(probably only 2 seasons max). He should have not been selected for the game (sorry Roosy) as he obviously wasn't up the the tempo of the game, with only playing 3 games back after being injured.

Roosy played him based purely on the previous week against Hawks when he played quite well. wasnt he the fastest sprinter in the afl a couple of years ago? crouch, not Roos:p

Yeah, Crouchy won the sprint that's on during the GF.

I thought he was one of our better players last night. Couple of his decisions were a bit off, but thats what basically a year and a half out will do. His attack on the ball was excellent though. Which is more than you can say for most of the team.

So how can any person here then be judge on our young group of players that have played Only a hand full of games or less ie; Moore,Phillips,Jack,Laidlaw,Barlow ????????????

Im just saying that a valuable player like Crouch should not have his career cut right now because he missed most of the season with injury. I reckon just about any player on our list would be slow to get back to their usual standard of football after being out for so long. Give Crouchy a break.

his career is over, the injuries saw too it.

over a year out with injuries that just didnt heal, and he is slow, and made some real poor decisions in 2 of his 3 games this year.

did not deserve selection in any game this year, and thoroughly disgusted that he has been selected the last 3 weeks, when schmidt or laidlaw should of been playing when they look like two players with the football world at their feet.

i think most of us would agree crouch has been a great servant to the club and deserved to finally get his 200 games up, and good luck to him and to roos for giving him that game a few weeks ago, i can't begrudge him that milestone
but his body is no longer up to it, and his mind now seems to be slowing in a footy context too, he seemed to go one step too far 3-4 times with the ball the other night....but so did paul bevan, who has no such excuses....would be very surprised if we don't get an off-season announcement from crouch

on the other side of the coin, about a month or so ago i was convinced micky o was finished and would call it quits after the season, but if he can get himself healthy he's got to go around again, he still rises to the occasion in finals

Crouch has missed almost 2 seasons with injury.

He is basically a back pocket play who uses his steally determination, niggle, and pace to shut down players. The umpires are removing niggle from the game, and his pace has gone.

He gets remembered for his 2005 finals form which was the pinacle of his career. I dont think he'll recapture that form, and Bevan has replaced him as the back-pocket.

I dont beleive we should delist Crouch, Matthews, etc unless they have serious ongoing injury problems, but they should be regarded as depth players not auto-selections.
