I don't think Crouch will play for the Swans till well after round 5. Or maybe not this whole year. Only time will tell...

What do you guys think about Crouch's sustained injuries? He's been 'accumulating' (can't find the right word) these injuries and it's gone off the rails. I hope he heals and gets better soon. We need Crouch.

What do you think about Crouch's future? Do you think he'll play footy for another 3 years or so? By the looks of things, i doubt it. But I still have faith... ;)

Deserves a response ... :thumbsu:

SMH might be getting the hang of reporting properly?

I can't feel more admiration for the attitude and passion for the game... whilst over the other side of our great country mayhem reigns with those who we let off... generously.. for an evener.... this bloke typifies the comittment!

It is good that he is takin it slow .. we need to bring on and give a opportunity to some guns... who have worked hard for the chance.

My tip Dogs V Swans 2007 GF... Crouchy is Akers worst nightmare:D

Missing the year is pure speculation.

If he's only started running on the second, his chances of making the team in round one are certainly slim. His recovery, however, appears to be going slowly but surely. At this stage, he should be back in the best 22 before too long.

Who knows when he'll be back. I remember last year it was constant speculation as to when he'd be back, will it be next week? In 2 weeks? Before the finals? During the finals?

It's good to see he's not getting too far ahead of himself though, i really do hope we get to see him next year. We missed him when he was gone.

a fit crouch would be a definate starter in any team! obviously he's a little behind in training & fitness. i say giv him as long as it takes. don't want to risk such an experienced & reliable player.

gut feeling says he wont start round one, maybe look for him round 3-5? then from there i hope he'll have another good run with injuries & play for a further 3 years at the least!

I believe that If Crouch had played in the Grand Final we would have won. Why? Because he would have played on Ben Cousins instead of Jarrad McVeigh and he wouldn't have allowed to let Cousins kick 2 goals.

I hope Crouch isn't out for to long and returns to the side as quick as possible. He is a vital cog in our line-up. Opposition supporters don't see him that way but he is.

I hope there will be more bitch slapping from Akers.

Jarrad McVeigh did a good job, i clearly remember one of the goals that Cousins got, that was Tadhg's fault but i can't remember the other. If Crouch would have played then he could have played on Kerr probably, which would have been great.

I just hope you're right. Crouch is taking it slow, but i rather have him taking it slow at the reserves than just chuck himself at the seniors. Wouldn't have to earn his 22 spot, theres one waiting for him whens he's ready.

I have to agree with you on that one. When he got injured I thought it wasn't a big deal. I seriously didn't think he would be a vital player in the Swans line up, and how wrong I was. Just watching the highlights from 2005 and the 05 GF, i never realised how much input Crouch puts in. It's phenomenal (sp?). He's a decent player and probably underrated seeing as not many actually realise how significant he is in the Swans 22. (i.e. Me)

yep sure .. hes a big/was part of the plan , though i believe after being out for so long the team has adapted quite well..
whether or not he will have the same impact i dont know..personally i like the idea of an oppertunity for a new face in the starting line up, not saying were better off without him (no way), more that its a great chance for a future player.
also i would like to see a more attaking midfielder emerge rather than a nulafying one.

Hi, are you new here? Cos i don't think i've seen you post on the boards very often. Anyways, i agree with your comments, entirley. Our team still managed to play the final series and play in our second consecutive GF. But, IMO, we could all sense were were missing something. Other than rucks, it was surley Crouch. Watching the 05 GF really hit me that importance of Crouch. But then again, with Crouch's pain, we gain another new face into the game. With the likes of Simon Phillips, Grundy, Malceski. So it's a win-win situtation I guess. But, I still think we need Crouch. With his presence and input, he can really turn the team up a notch or two.

hi, no i dont often post for i feel i realy dont have much to contribute, though saying that your right in the sense that there was something missing in the gf. i dont know if it was one particular player, more i feel it was the entire 1st half.
i agree that someone of his abilty and experiance can only be benoficial to the team and i do look forward to his return. i just hope he has to really earn a spot not get one on past credabilty, for i do believe in bringing and giving younger players all the oppertunities thay can get.

I reckon the reason we feel something is missing is because every now and again we get a bit of a tease with Sydney running on the rebound of the ball, rather than holding it up. If Sydney did that more often than not, we would be devistating ... alas we don't ... lets hope this is the year...

Yeah, i don't really mean Crouch was the only one missing. I mean everyone was, especially in the first half. Its good that we've given some new faces a go at the seniors, becuase in Sydney, it's hard to give the reserves to play. Due to our good run on injuries.

True. I hope this is the year too.. and many to come as well.

Crouch is under-rated in the way a bloke like Stuey Maxfield was under-rated. You take him away and others shrink because of it.He plays such a crucial team role. You can't measure the type of impact shutting a player like Aker out of a big game can have on the outcome. And he does it consistently on quality opposition. One of the best taggers and unheralded leaders in the comp. The man is fertiliser and lets other flourish around him. Surely the first half of the 06 Granny would of been differnent had Crouch been subdueing one of Judd or Kerr.

In saying that, he is a player who relies on his fitness and speed. Those components of his game will take time to recover, so don't expect him back early.

Crouch will do a Willo and say at about Round 10 after a few frustrating games in the 2's, "thats all folks".

Rising 29 and no pre season he has only a slim chance of getting back the fitness and endurance he had. I would say he is way at the bottom of the club's planning. If we were in the bottom 4 them there would be a lot of prayers said for him and hope would run eternal.

Damn. I hope that wouldn't happen. Don't want Crouch to do a Willo. Now I'm worried...

He'll take it slow. I'd also rather have him recover slowly than chuck him into round one. There's not surprises there. I'm quite happy for him, just travelling with his partner around New York. :thumbsu:
