Crowd tonight

I'm an mcc member and was really disappointed in the empty reserve. The mcc was too afraid of locking out members and didn't sell enough guest passes. Had plenty of mates who would have come with me.

Mcc must be rapt we lost as it takes the headlines off the empty seats

In fairness to the mcc how do they manage it? Release extra tickets to the mcc visitors? Logistically its tough. Some Mcc members pay their annual $700 to be able to turn up 5 minutes after the bounce. Are non mcc visitor members prepared to wait until close to the bounce only to be told theyve run out of seats?

Easily outnumbered them tonight. Pretty disappointing to see the top of mcc so empty, really feel for the true supporters who missed out because of that crap.

To all potential flogs that think trolling in here is worth a ban; go for it, BigFooty is better without you
Easily out numbered them but they were still making more noice from the outset, which is pretty disappointing.

They could let in provisional members if it’s not full at the 1st bounce.

Unless you are an MCC member, people often don't quite get it that it's not all beer and skittles. There are 13000 seats and standing room spots available to MCC member to walk up to, but it's not that simple usually. There are the real diehards to are prepared to line up may hours and on rare occasions days, just to get the limited seats on Level 1 and 2. Level 4 seats are what was empty and this game was the first I can recall that the MCC didn't allow MCC members to turn up on Level 4 and keep a seat next to them for a family or friend member. That probably scared a quite a few away from attending.

As Frazb said, the vastly reduced number of Visitor tickets also meant people who might have attended with a family member or friend, simply did not as they probably had less interest in attending alone. That would have pushed more members into those empty seats in Level 4. A Visitors ticket was $150 I think.

If my memory serves me, I think the MCC only sell about 4-5000 reserved seats and even that is via a Ballot for the GF or via Ticketek for other games (using Ticketek is probably the first mistake).

So the upshot is, most MCC members turn up to line up to get in without knowing where or if they have seat. Granted, most get one, but membership doesn't buy many privileges these days. Ballots for Dining Rooms, ballots to go into the Jim Stynes Grill.

I don't envy the MCC administration in working out the best way to fill those seats and do think that if Provisional Members are prepared to wait to say 15 minutes before the bounce and there are unallocated seats at big games, let em in and fill it up.
