Why would it be better on level one? I like the poker room in the basement where it is now.

Far more new players on the main casino floor. The poker room is poorly located. There is little through traffic, people have to go out of their way to get to the poker room, that is, if they can find it. But what if they aren't looking for it? They will just be walking up and down the main gaming floors. If the Poker Room was to the side of one of the main floors, there'd be more players and especially more new players.

Anyone know if all $500 chips are out of circulation? It's so annoying to have 7/8/9 $100 chips because there aren't $500 chips. I thought there might be $500 chips available upstairs but I'm not sure. So ridiculous of Crown to just withdraw $500 chips because of counterfeiting.

Theyre completely out of service everywhere

Would be interested to hear what the plans are, perhaps a new design or just running without them going forward

Played some tonight and dealer standards were terrible, saw some things id never seen

Action is awesome though

There was about 36k of counterfeit 1k chips found in 2009 and they pulled them, but replaced them with a new design. I think there was over 100k of fake 500 chips found, so probably a bigger counterfeit operation, but still, Crown should sort it out rather than pull 500s from circulation forever. Imagine if the US Treasury withdrew C-notes because they're heavily counterfeited.

If not having access to $500 chips is a real issue then its not a very hard life you have.

When Burswood pulled their $500 chips for a short period of time last year, we had them back relatively quickly (2 weeks if I remember correctly).

If any particular chip was going to be pulled from circulation then the $500 are the best chips to miss out since 2 $500's is a $1k.

Having $100 out of order would be far more annoying in my opinion.

It's annoying to have 7, 8 or 9 $100 chips in your pocket.

My understanding is that new $500 chips will be manufactured.

Raised from LP with 9c10c and get called by the BB.

Flop was 7d8d3c. Checked to me I make a standard cbet and get check-raised. I call and we take a 2c turn. He checks and I go all in. He calls and 10 high is the nuts when the heart river pairs the board.

Well, he mucked so I didn't get to see his cards but he has to have had 56, 45, 69, 64, 59 49 with most likely diamonds or occasionally clubs. 56o and 69o are also possibilities I guess.

I recall many moons ago playing 1/2 winning a hand with 53o, playing the board, after I snap-called 30 on the river, he flashes 54o for a missed draw (also playing the board) and mucks. I didn't show.

I shoved the turn so had to show my cards, he had a look, mucked, and judging by the post hand chat he knew the strength of my exposed hand and couldn't beat it.

Looks like Melbourne Champs are back starting 3/5/2012 going up until the 13th for a standard week of poker

Crown will prop realease schedule on the 1/5/2012 but from memory its usually a 1k main and most likely a 50k grnt opening event, followed by the usual PLO/Terminater/Thursday 6 handed events etc

Really hope they suprise us and fill it up with something different and better buyins/structures

I would assume theyd fit a Hachem deepstack series in between though for those suffering withdrawls from the Aussie Millions still chasing a score...

I also note a new/different sunday event labelled as deepstack with a buyin of $110+$40 ($150) which is maaaaajjjjoooorrr juice. So either just a huge grab or theyre actually offering a half deep event and need to cover cost. Along with that the Wednesday Wonder is now starting at 6:15 which I think is a good thing, would be greater if they squeezed in a couple of earlier levels

So a 2 week series has become a 1.5 week series. I'd be confident the schedule will be released well before May 1. Last year it was about 6 weeks in advance. As a reference, here are the events from the last couple of years:

2010 MPC - http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/festival.php?a=r&n=7442
2011 MPC - http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/festival.php?a=r&n=8773

In other news, there will only be one JHDSS each year from now on. And it looks like the Vic Champs is a thing of the past.

It appears so yes its been cut short. It will obv be released before May 1st, I was just poking fun at Crowns tardyness when releasing schedules/structures.

Interesting only 1 JHDSS, hopefully then they give it some more umph and have some bigger/better events. It will be a long 4 months with no tournament series in between, unless now they chose to use it.

I've noticed that PLO is becoming more regular these days. 1/2 and even 2/4.

There was something on the Star City or Adelaide Casino (can't remember which) about PLO being the priority game one night a week.

I've never played PLO live, have been thinking of re-learning the game. Used to play a bit of PLO online 5 years ago.

if you think the swings of PLO online are crazy, it's nothing compared to live. people will come into pots with all sorts of junk.

but if you play pretty solidly, and are rolled enough you'll come out on top.

playing PLO live is super hard because (for me especially) you end up playing too many hands. With the longer dealing time and most pots being played out longer than NLHE it can be very hard to fold when you should fold, rather than just open limping or calling with bad hands hoping to flop big because you're so bored

Everytime I sit down and play it for an hour I usually always get up reminding myslef of why I dont play it live and vow not to again

PLO was pretty big over the millions with the 25/25 game running nearly every night. That leaves a bit of a risidual effect but I expect in a couple of weeks it will return to normal and 1/2PLO might get up once a week

Maybe 10/20 Omaha would be better, even though it's mainly the 5/10 Limit regs playing.

yeah its almost like a social club that game, same players most nights all laughing and spewing

Ive never played it but apparently it can be pretty profitable if you dont get sucked into the social aspect of it
