Surely when things are a bit tough for people financially (as they are at the moment), gambling is the first thing to go. Makes sense they might be under some pressure.

Apparently mass redundancies a week or two ago (1000 workers or more).

Meanwhile pretty sure their Village outlet is more or less running a scam not honouring gift cards etc.

I think things are pretty rough.

Yeah, my brother accepted the redundancy and is getting ~$60k tax free, which works well as he's been saying for the last couple of years he wants to leave Crown.

In other news Crown are brining back cheaper buy in poker in some format shortly.

300 full time dealers and 200 part time dealers accepted the redundancy payout.

It was more than Crown were expecting so they've now reserved the right to knock back some redundancies.

I’ve noticed recently that there are more Chinese players and a few that speak little to no English. This weekend I had 5 at my table and they were constantly speaking in Mandarin. Can’t say I have ever noticed such constant speaking in a foreign language amongst so many players at the same table.

An experienced dealer one table over castigated two Chinese players and another player said it was getting out of hand but that too many dealers don’t intervene. I got up and spoke to the AMs, played one more hand, decided I was sick of it so picked up and left. An AM did speak to the table as I was leaving.

Crown recently started offering 2/3 NLH every day, not just Mon-Wed.

Wednesday and Friday look not too bad

A few APL guys I talk to have played them

But I could not justify paying $125-150 at the start stack to blind structure ratio plus shot clock Monday and Tuesday do, rather play a $100-200 APL tournament and get a 100-150k stack and 15-20 minute blinds also

They can't run cash games when/if they open (Victorian gaming regulation doesn't allow it). So its just going to be a tournament hosting venue

Really wish Hachem/Benson would partner with a businessman and fight the government to get a poker licence that allows cash games. It would be best for everyone, including Crown, if poker was no longer offered at the casino.

So for other low rollers like me out there, yes they offer 2/3 but they might as well not. Tonight at one point they had 44 people waiting for 3 tables of 2/3 and 10 people waiting for 11 tables of 2/5, they opened another table of 2/5

Crown have been promoting on the floor that the special guest speaker panel they have for Monday's VPC launch will also feature a major announcement.

I’m guessing the Aussie Millions will be returning.

Didn’t in the end as I realised day 2 was Anzac Day, which clashed with plans to go to the footy. Looks like they got a few there though.

I played a $300 NLH VPC event, finished 20th with 12 paying. Also played the $400 NLH/PLO mix, finished 30th with 12 paying, busted AAKJ < AAQx. Dude that busted me finished 2nd.

I hold grave concerns for the medium/long-term future of PlayLive.

Apart from one or two events, its been a brutal start with fields ranging fro underwhelming to events just not running with Crown capturing all the interest with the Vic Champs.

They seem to have massively over-invested relative to where they're at.

I hope they're able to figure it out as competition is great.
