I hold grave concerns for the medium/long-term future of PlayLive.

Apart from one or two events, its been a brutal start with fields ranging fro underwhelming to events just not running with Crown capturing all the interest with the Vic Champs.

They seem to have massively over-invested relative to where they're at.

I hope they're able to figure it out as competition is great.

hardly surprising. you are getting killed in the wasteland between pub poker and crown running series again.

any commercial poker venue that can’t run a cash game will never survive long term imo.

I am writing in relation to incident that occurred with me being banned from Crown Melbourne on the 6th of December 2025.

It relates to an incident where I sat in one of the unoccupied machines and Withdrew funds from the machine as I decided I didn't want to play on that particular machine. To put this into a bit of context, a lot of these machines have credit on them after a patron decides to leave these machines.

I was spoken to one of the guards as he kicked me out and quoted by him as saying " your a thief!" In an angry tone. I don't believe the tone he spoke with, was even appropriate for the situation. If your going to kick someone out, the guard could do well to act with more professionalism and have some more calmness in the way he spoke. He seemed rattled as it was relatively late in the night. We had an exchange where he asked me if the situation was reversed and I left behind funds in a machine, how would I feel? My response it really is "open slather". Patrons have a responsibility to be on their machine at the time of present. If there is no one in the vicinity of 15-20 metres and the machine has been unoccupied for a good 3-4 minutes, is this really breaking any laws or rules of the casino? My response was also along the lines of we have a responsibility to manage our funds in a casino. There have been countless times machines have been left with credit on them. What is the line in terms of drawing a line in the sand?

I don't believe a patron using a machine where funds have been left behind is doing anything wrong. This experience has left me bemused and I mentioned to the security guard that what one sees is "open slather".
It will take a lot for convincing for me to step foot or recommended your business to fellow patrons in future. If you want to be treated with respect, do your business with The Star complex. That's where I'm at with this and I thank you for taking the time for everyone to read this.

I notice lot of reviews from other users are about the : food, hotel . But as a casino and my experience at Crown Perth-there has always been a bad vibe with the security guards, the croupier dealers and general staff working in the casino. You are how you present yourself and as a traveller of casinos worldwide, the Crown product is one of the poorest around. Crown have seriously lost their way, their roulette tables have triple advantage to the house 0, 00 and triple 000), they charge a minimum to play on their touch screen and their staff generally don’t look enthused about their job. From my experience at the Star there was never ever any roulette table with more than 0 or double 0. Clearly, the cost of living has pinched people and Crown has had to reciprocate that by increasing their house advantage to their terms. Save your money and do your work at The Star complex in Sydney or Gold Coast. This place has gone to the wire since it has been sold by James Packer and co.

how much was in the machine ?

But also, surely the credit in a machine is tied to the rewards card of the person using it?
At the time, there was no rewards card in the machine.

On a separate note dont really understand this nonsense of why a rewards cards has to be used for the machines at Crown Melbourne. Pretty sure casinos worldwide , there is no need to sign up for a rewards card of any sort. You can play on the proper roulette tables, poker or baccarat without a card. Personally, don't want to be revealing any of my personal information to anyone.

It a regulatory requirement 9spend/time limits).

You didn't answer how much was in the machine.

You didn't answer how much was in the machine.
Not going to answer the specific amount but I will say you can withdraw funds at the Crown machines, if somebody has left credit in there without a Rewards card.

I figure Crown Melbourne or casinos in Australia for that matter aren't my cup of tea. Can settle on the Star in : Sydney, Gold Coast or Brisbane. Much prefer the ones overseas that I have been to.

Also does anyone know when Crown Melbourne went from double Zeros for Roulette to triple green (0, 00 and Triple 000) if you can call that? Once I got on that table only after the 2nd spin did I notice the house advantage to the cas (triple that normal). The Casino has to find a way to make a dollar in this tough climate I guess- Crown made a profit in the last financial year , after suffering losses and hefty ones at that the years prior. The only table including electronic, where you can play with a Single Zero Roulette is $25.00 minimum. Pretty sure the Star in Sydney minimum is $1.00 , and $10 minimum on the physical tables.

Crown have lost me as a consumer and I won't be recommending them to anyone.

Run by a foreign investment company, they could not care less about it except for the $__________________

If someone left $0.50c in the machine then it could clearly be intentional (someone couldn't be bothered with a 50c ticket), so you are entitled to just sit at that machine and treat it as your own if no one is around.

If someone left a significant amount of money in a machine and left, which could be just a completely honest mistake, it isn't 'open slather' as you describe.

There are significant gaps in your story. How did security become involved? Did the person come back and you wouldn't give them back their money?

I am under the assumption that the person who put the funds in must have reported it to security and then security may have just looked at their video footage or looked at who inserted their rewards card after the patron before had left. With the way a casino is monitored , everything is pretty much monitored.
