Doesnt really tell us much but IMO they have to add more tables. They have 50 at the moment and with the way things are exploding they need more. Certainly they will need more for next years Aussie Millions.

Staff I'd spoken to recently said there were some major changes in the works. My suggestions:
- get rid of all slot machines down there
- get rid of CRT televisions, replace with 10 or so plasmas
- add tickers for sports results, stock prices, news
- replace whiteboard with LCD
- improve audio system (sitting at table 26 is a nightmare)
- MORE DRINK WAITRESSES

Oh, and from what I can deduce over at pokernetwork.com, that $60m freakshow later in the year may well be cancelled.

They keep saying how great their new poker room is, but lets be honest, its just more tables, and walkie talkies to communicate on busy nights. There are many ways they can improve, I agree with what r+b has put forward, even a paging system so you dont have to hang around the poker room, if there was a queue for a table, send an automated SMS to your phone for example when you're next in list, I dunno something like that, something simple to not have to live off that whiteboard.

They really need to look at a way of rewarding the players that are playing, I mean, the poker players have made that place boom, and what are we getting in return? Nothing much really, I know it will never happen but something such as a complimentary drink on a high limit table, or something like that, maybe even 10-25-50% off drinks/food if you are seated at a table, something to give back to players are putting in their hard earned, but like I said, it will never happen

It happens.

When seated it's $2 for a beer and $4 for a Scotch and coke, you do pay more at the bar.

Though it must be said they do need more waitresses, or we at the $60 tables don't tip enough/at all.

The Crown Card only entitles poker players to free parking, which is better than nothing I guess, but it would be great to be able to play for a few hours then go off for a free dinner. Even free movie tickets would be a nice touch. Anything would be better than the status quo. They already rake in > 20% in fees in the Sunday tournaments, not to mention 100% of alternates buy-ins, I'd say Crown's doing well enough out of the poker players.

I've found it's preferable to get up and go to the bar yourself. It means you get your drink quicker, get to stretch your back and legs, and give your mind a couple minutes break.

If a free drink is all you want get a Mahogany Room card. Also gets you access to the VIP tables/slots room where you can grab a few beers and walk out without spending a cent. Whenever I am in Melbourne I grad 2 or 3 beers from there and bring them down to the LV Room before I start playing.

Ive always wondered actually, how do you go about getting a better card?

It would be harder for you guys living in Melbourne because they have a stricter membership policy. Im pretty sure you have to be invited based on having turned over a large amount downstairs. If you are from interstate though you just need to buy-in for $5000 or more and they will give you a membership. Obviously if you dont then meet their turnover requirements it wont be renewed though.

that's right. i asked yesterday and they said VIP membership was by invitation only based on what you play, how long and for how much. i would assume that would mean that if you only play holdem poker, you won't be getting any VIP invite.

Thats right. No chance of getting a membership based on poker play. Its strange that it is so much easier to get a membership if you ae from interstate though. I only go down a few times a year and only turnover anything significant once a year but they will continue to renew my membership.
