Yeah I saw that I thought wtf. It's not nother Rucci article is it? If that is the case though, that is very pleasing. I, and others have commented on how suprising Craigy's game plan is - I didn't think he would be nowhere as aggressive as he is.

Interesting about McLeod bouncing the ball heaps. Is this an indication of the run and creativity he is providing off half back ?

DId you know that... Scotty Thompson leads our clangers!!

They count a free kick against as a clanger though.

So if it was purely on disposal clangers he wouldn't be up there at all I'd suggest.

Yeah but still he gave away 4 free kicks against st kilda and 3 clanger kicks/handballs.

I was suprised by that too...but of course freekicks count as clangers, and we know Thommo's agressiveness gets him into trouble. ;)

He's a beautiful kick of the football though.

I don't think this is right. I'm pretty sure that clangers and frees-against are completely separate. The only exception might be out-of-bounds on the full.

Adelaide
• Leads hard-ball gets (139 a game) and clearances from ball-ups (10/game).
• Andrew McLeod has bounced the ball more than anyone else (49).

but so do Geelong?

Geelong
• Leads competition in hard-ball gets (29/game)

???

Someone at the Age has mistransposed the original stats from Prowess Stats

Geelong do lead the comp in hard ball gets @ 29/game, but the Crows lead the lead in handballs @ 139/game.

What's very interesting on the Prowess site is their Stat of the week which shows:

  • We don't have a player in the league in the top 25 in goal assists
  • However, Hayden Skipworth is #9 in the league in scoring assists. Too many passes to players in the pockets from Skippy?
  • Robert Shirley and Marty Mattner are tied for #8 in the league as "goal setters" - credited to players who have initiated a chain or unbroken disposals that have led to a goal. A credit to their work around the packs - and a bit of a surprise to those (myself included) who underrate Shirley
  • 16 goals 12 behinds can be directly contributed to Ben Hudson's ruck and general clearance work.

Interesting stuff.
I thought 139 hard ball gets per game sounded a tad high.
I didnt think Craigy had them playing that aggressively.
First in handballs is nothing to get excited about. :(

Thanks for that Marv.

Also, did you know that the amount of goals scored at the southern end of AAMI stadium in total this year, is equal to the number of footy pies MINUS the number of buckets of chips sold at half time since the start of the year ?

Whol would have thought ?
