For Neil Craig to be there in 5 years time he would either need a grand final berth or have an awesome team on the level of what St Kilda is at currently.
I disagree whole-heartedly.

I get the feeling that you are not going to support him no matter what he does. If the team bottoms out and gets early picks to built a team like St. Kilda you will jump at him and want him sacked. If he doesn't make the GF but bring in some youth that can make a genuinely good team that will challenge for a flag in years to come, you would still want him sacked because he hasn't built a team as dominant as St. Kilda has the capacity to be.

I think you have just have stubbon streak that will never allow you to swallow your pride and admit that Craig might as well be the right man for the job.

FACTS: if you want a team like St. Kilda you must finish bottom for the next 3 years at least. If this happens, you want Craig gone.

If Craig builds a good team ala Geelong but doesn't make the GF in 5 years there you still wouldn't be happy.

Tha man can't win either way in your book.

well i've always said its just about the dodgiest appointment possible, so i agree with you, but do you really think that after going to all this trouble they’ve gone through to justify craigy's appointment they are going to sack him after two yrs? of course not. I actually wonder also, why he was given a three yr deal for an untried coach, that’s not smart either.

Anyway, there are no expectations of the club at this stage, with their current list, so theres hardly any pressure. I believe that craigy is a gutless man, i'd have more respect for him if he'd taken the tough decision to cut more than 1 player last year. Trading pick12 was also another gutless decision. As well as the resigning of begley. But what all this says to me is that we will not be having that many youngsters playing this yr, so the results will not be as bad as the media is making out. Craig will be eager to make sure his doesnt have a bad yr in his first yr, i expect somewhere like 10th we will get. I'd have far more respect for him if he had done what pagan did with carlton get rid of all the crap, contracts or no contracts, and get some solid youngsters who are willing to have a go. That way you have a bad yr, it might be really bad, but from then on the only way is up. Anyway, i feel we are still to really bottom out, but craig will gets his three yrs, and as long as we are not bottom at the end of the third, which lets face it is highly unlikely, he will get another two to have a crack at the finals.
Therapy not going well??????

Jackie boy no coach, not even a great coach would have delisted all our dud players at once. That would leave us with virtually a under 19 team dispersed with our top tier players. You just cant play a team with a majority of inexperienced youngsters without creating major problems within the club.
That is their reason. You must have some 2nd/3rd tier players on your list that have played AFL whether they arnt up to AFL standard or not.
We didnt play all our draftees from last year in the games so far so this year now did we?
Spot on. I get sick and tired of this "He should have delisted more players and he shouldn't have traded pick 12" crap that you hear so often here. And all this "How come Pagan and Wallace did it" crap as well

FACT: Carlton and Tigers have bottomed out and you had to get rid off all the crap there because of extremely poor list managment of both clubs. People say our list managment was shocking but at least it was no where near as bad as that of Carlton (in Elliot days) and Richmond. When poeple compare Adelaide with Carlton and Tigers they are not comparing apples with apples but are just mouthing off for the sake of saying something.

Even Rodney Eade on 5AA just prior to the announcement on senior coach said that Adelaide list is NOT in the need of rebuilding and is need of some refurbishment and the team didn't need to bottom out to get back to being a contender again and there didn't need to be mass ddelistings but hey what the hell would he know

As usual you skew the facts to suit you. Rodney Eade, prior to the announcement, and prior is the key word here, said words to those effects. And it wasnt a coincidence that Trigg and Co had repeatedly said that the team does not need rebuilding, so with eade hoping to snag the job, why would you come out and say something contradicting the ppl that make the choice to appoint you.

He also, in the same interview, said not to trade first round and early picks, but you conveniently overlook that. And they invent words like 'refurbish' its the same thing, we do not need to do what st.kilda or carlton did, but if you honestly look at the list, and honestly access it it badly lacks quality young talent. There are a lot that need to go.

and trading pick twelve, was a selfish move by craig, he gets an instant replacement for stenglein instead of investing in a quality youngster. Its true that thompson may not be with us if we'd had not traded it, but port unlike us are in a position to trade early picks because of their list. There was some real quality at 12 and below. Begley also was a selfish move, why would you resign a guy that cant string together 10 games a season. Basically, craigy wants to have a reasonable yr, and these moves were made so we dont bottom out this yr.
