I've been thinking a bit about this and strategy.

How narrow is narrow for you in terms of holdings? 2 coins, 10? And it's more like 10, deep on all or is it weighted?

I currently hold 99.5% in one coin, XRP. For the last 12 months I've keep up to news with two coins XRP and BTC for the simple reason that BTC news determines BTC price which in turn heavily influences the market cap of crypto in general.

I also hold a small amount of BOS coin which was purchased during their IPO but that's a long term 3+ year play so I've go no interest in keeping up to date with BOS news beyond a quick 5 minutes a month.

Prior to that I held ETH, BTC, SIA and Golem. Of these I think ETH will be a cornerstone of the crypto space over the next 5 years while SIA has some potential. In keeping with my strategy I don't own either of these now as it would require a lot more time and effort with minimal gain.

Seems to me the big players for the next 3-6 months are ripple and verge! The new wealth makers

Thanks for that. Congrats RE xrp.

Yeah it's strategy I'm thinking most about right now. I've only been in the market for a few weeks. Already some nice gains, but with only a few thousand invested, spreading too thinly may not be the best way.

Pros and cons both sides of the fence, trying to work it all out!

Obviously the fear of missing a seat on the gravy train altogether if all-in on the wrong coin.

Maybe half of investment on BTC & ETH, other half all-in on a cheap alt...

RE Sia. I definitely think a cloud coin will boom -- I think it might be Storj though? Know that one?

I’m doing a test to see how much I can make from the McAfee effect.

IMO BTC will be utterly worthless in the next 2-3 years. At the moment the BTC evangelists say it's a 'store of wealth' is its key attribute which is redundant as every other coin is a store of wealth as well. It's slow, expensive, outdated and the only purpose it serves is as a link between cash and altcoins. Additionally where's the room to grow? It's at $15200 now, how on earth does it then go up by a fact of 10? It doesn't, simple as that. There's plenty of coins that could and BTC isn't one of them. I wouldn't hold any BTC with a long term view in mind.

Side note look at coins that are future focused. Bitcoin is currently capable of completing 7 transactions per second and has 234100 unprocessed transactions at the time of writing. That's 557 minutes worth of backlog of transactions waiting to process. By contrast Ripple processes 1500 transactions per second and can readily increase that to 10000 per second when needed to chew through the 234100 transactions in 156 seconds right now and eventually in 23.4 seconds.

Regarding Storj I'm familiar with them and there's a stack of reasons why I wouldn't buy them regarding the way the entity is run and managed. I'd encourage you to research the hell out of anything you want to put money into, especially if it's outside the top 5 by market cap.

By the time I've finished the paragraph above the bitcoin unprocessed transactions number is now 235200. Still want to hold a redundant currency?

I hold a decent block of dgbt.

Got 2/3 of the McAfee coins so far.

Strong volume on DGB, I was going to sell before I hit the hay, but I might risk it and HODL until I wake up.

Yesterday..... all my troubles seem like they were here to stay...... now it looks like they are far away..... oh i can barely remember, yesterday.....

Seriously, was down about 20% on my portfolio yesterday. 24 hours since and i have gone past breakeven. The total market cap is back up to 600b, and its been a good lesson in crypto - even if whales dump the market and pull out 200b just hodl your nerve and hodl your cryptos. Oh and always be online with Mcafee tweets :)

Verge still tearing new assholes.

It's almost tripled in value just TODAY.

I’m jealous of everyone that got in early. I’m one of the ones that keeps thinking it’s too late. Now it would just be irresponsible to get on.

I’d bet, without betting that McAfee mentions some time soon either or both Komodo and Monaco coins!

I went to bed at 4am. Woke up 7:30 (thanks 6 month old!) and it has gone up like 10 cents. They have even released wraithe yet.

My mates cousin who made the $600k (who turns out didn’t bank it so is sitting on over a mill now) swore to me last week it would be over $0.50 by Christmas.

Didn’t really believe him, but now however... hahaha

Bought DGB earlier in the week + some bottomed out XVG. Nice!

Small amounts invested though, so not as over the moon as some no doubt. That's the issue with a wide spread...

It's a rubbish coin to actually deal with there is no doubt. I wonder whether it will become worthless though or morph into something else. Either way, what you're saying kind of backs up my general 'big coin' strategy of investing in the market (through funds weighted on market cap) rather than individual coins themselves. Alt coins different story.

Off the top of my head, speed, privacy and ease to be paramount for crypto success. The first few coins that bridge the gap to non-blockchain, everyday ecosystems will do very well. I wonder what coins they are...??
