Cryptocurrency mega-thread

I'm just a small time trader - I use my bitcoins to buy things that you don't find in high st stores.

I just bought a $100 BTC, wouldn't be surprised if it's $200 by the end of the month.

Annoyingly I was using my BTC to buy things when it was trading at $4000 last year, not realising that the world is full of sheep and lemmings, so I didn't invest. I just spent them.
Big props for actually spending your BTC regardless. Widespread adoption is what will actually drive the crypto market. Not sure what you mean by saying you didn't invest ?? If you own Bitcoin, you have invested !!

I have the BTC/USD chart running on my computer 24/7 and am watching it like a hawk looking for a huge volume spike. That's the best indicator of the bottom.
Exactly how I read into it mate...
Volume... and patience is key.

My portfolio is still up (started in august)..all be it by about 20%...not even close to sweating balls yet. As much as I have been tempted (particularly by wifey and a few weak handed mates) to sell I will not, no matter what comes. Can’t wait to get back from holidays and buy more... just hope things don’t get back on track too quick otherwise i’ll miss an awesome opportunity here. I get back end of next week so a long time in the world of cryptos and what the movement could be - in either direction!!

Finally saw some retailers today accepting bitcoin here in Osaka. They were big retailers too...main one was Bic Camera...massive electronics department store...nice to see such a large Corp tuned into crypto. I took pics of signs etc showing bitcoin acceptance but I’m not savvy enough to upload on here on my mobile.
We went in there to grab some phone adapters...I showed wifey the bitcoin signs and she said she’d rather me spend the bitcoin then yen...I told her to mind her own and hodl!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t use the dark web, I just have a merchant in Europe who prefers to deal in Bitcoins. I’d rather not talk about what I’m buying but you’re unlikely to find it in K Mart.

What really pissed me off a few weeks ago was this said merchant got fed up with the slow lag in the Bitcoin transfer process and asked for payment in Litecoins to speed things up. I duly opened a litecoin wallet and tried to send him some LTC to make a payment. But my stupid provider converted the litecoin back into bitcoin before sending them to the address. You can’t send litecoin to a Bitcoin address. Why the hell would I open a litecoin wallet if I wanted to pay people in Bitcoins? My money has disappeared into cyberspace and it is beyond my technical capabilities to have it returned.

I preferred it when my merchants took Paypal frankly, when you’re a bloke who just wants to buy stuff using BTC the last year has been a very strange experience.

So is "myetherwallet" all i need to store it? I'll get one of those Ledger Nano s down the track.
Coinspot while although doing 3% fees (I think) is an easy site to use, is Aussie, let's you bank transfer or use the blueshyft option to deposit aud and has 78 coins/tokens listed to purchase

Exchanges I prefer bittrex, iust prefer its layout....the other main one is binance
Then there's kucoin, cryptopia and about 20 others
I refuse to use etherdelta....gotta draw the line somewhere

MEW (myetherwallet)is the prefered wallet for most for all the erc20 tokens
Metamask is another wallet

Nanos are holding about 30 coins/tokens now??
I should get one

Are you sure they converted litecoin into bitcoin before sending ?? Is it possible that they tried to send litecoin to a segwit wallet when it needed to go to a legacy wallet ?? You could easily identify this by referring back to the first digit of the wallet address it was sent to. You can then convert a segwit wallet address to a legacy wallet address. And if indeed that was the case, the money should be there and available.

Some solid, evenly distributed volume on BTC last night. Unfortunately we didn't see one huge spike to genuinely indicate the bottom of the sell off. I would think this largely has to do with the news regarding SEC/CFTC senate hearing. Will be interesting to see where we go from here. I'm expecting some sideways action and then another break either up or down.

Lets see some high volume institutional money!!
Just my opinion and have posted about it before in this thread, but I think this year will start to see it trickle in to the market. We really need for the overall market cap to be a lot, lot bigger before they really come on board. When they do come, they will come in droves.

Ohayogozaimasu, I live in Japan during the northern winter. Will start keeping an eye on whether its being adopted.

I am now invested enough in crypto.

Most of my investment is WTC, 2nd biggest ICX, then smaller on both BCPT and BETR which are speculative plays.

Walton my big play though. And yes I am down on it so far tigertigertiger - my breakeven is about 30 USD
In 3 years time, 30US will be ancient history man. Four figures incoming

What's the blueshyft option, mate? Anything that adds a level of security from the prying government would be desirable.

Blueshyft is cash deposits at participating newsagencies.

Coinspot generates a QR code which you scan at the newsagency. The funds are then instantly deposited into your Coinspot account minus the 3% fee. Fee is a little high, but waiting around for deposits to clear while watching coin prices increase is bullshit annoying. I used this method numerous times while POLi deposits were down.
