Almost $200 up after the Cup Placed 10 50c mystery flexi trifecta's, each at 1.38% and got the winners on 3 tickets Not bad for $1.50 haha.

My father however was the big winner. Put 3 50c flexi quartets on and won on all three. 1.38% of $29072 three times. Ended up winning $1200 the bastard XD

That is ok though. The no 1 rule of punting...only bet what you can afford or are willing to lose. You can't go wrong then.

Agree completely, also losing $60 to mates at a friendly game is money well spent if you have a good time.

Americain came from far too far back in the field to mount a legit challenge.

Good to see Facile Tigre and Foxstar have me triple my money ($75 to $240) outlaid for the day though.

Still, on a drought since Might and Power for actually picking the Melbourne Cup winner.

one of the greatest days on the calendar is the Melbourne Cup, is an institution and one heck of a tradition that can stop a nation. There's only one day in my life that I was living interstate at the time and for that day sheesh i was like a fish out of water. Just perfect it is on the TUESDAY , opens it up to take the MONDAY off and have a nice looong weekend.

oooh and for the record...after a hearty mixed grill on the barbie and a couple of Boags...i backed a LOSER in Jukebox jury...still running I think

I'm a bit of a ******* and only bet around th carnival and the few other times of the year I actually turn up to a meet. The Mrs and I popped some box trifecta and a couple of bets on to the tune of $50. Nailed both the winner and the trifecta, albeit at a reduced dividend. Nice little $800 earn though. Rapt.

Tried my hand at a 4/6/8 flexi-trifecta for $12 (10%) and won $455! WooHoo!

Liking Shenzhou Steeds tomorrow in the 2nd. Worth a look. The form from that Seymour race has been holding up.

If Testa My Patience gets a nice sit up near the pace again, think the on pace bias (there's always an on-pace bias every year on Stakes Day unless there's a hurricane head wind) will get him to the line in the Emirates. Racing in super form.

And Mick Price's thing Spirited Eagle might be worth a look in the last. Another on-pace chance.

Have popped a small outlay on King's Rose for the Stakes tomorrow. Backed it in the Cox Plate and am not jumping off now as I reckon it would have won the Cox Plate had it been able to get out of traffic.
