Time for me to start getting my cups doubles done, but not sure which bookie to use.

In the past i've had the sheets sent to me by a few bookies (Eskander, Read etc.), but nothing came this year.

So, what bookie are you using, and which ones tend to offer the best value?

its always fun to wander through the betting ring and look at those massive sheets the bookies have, and then pick out some ridiculous double paying 2500-1

It totally depends, doubles bookies often back their opinion, unlike raceday bookies.

I always shop around,Esaknder,Doublebet (Coster),Vic & NSW Tabs fixed odds. Its incredible how much one combination can vary in price.Especially on the o/s horses.

Eskander obviously has a good wrap on the English horse Distinction in the Melb Cup as he is way unders with him,ie Zumanity/Distinction is $301 there when $530 is available at Sportstab.

Another current example is the Braeloch/Strasbourg double,$800 with Doublebet yet $1601 with Eskander.Yet Doublebet are laying Hugs Dancer in the Melb Cup.
The Vouvray/Hugs double is $451 with Eskander but $701 at Doublebet.

So shop around on the net,all are keen for your business

Cheers
Seth.

Cheers Seth.

I want to do it online, and want something with a relatively small minimum bet as i want to have a heap of horses in the first leg, into one horse in the big race.

I've found the straight out odds on the Melbourne Cup are ludicrous, especially with the favoured few.

I have had a look at a lot of the online doubles bookies and IMHO Bill Hurley's Australian Sportsbook offers better odds on the doubles and win/place than most of his competitors.

I would give Eskander and the Victorian TAB Sportsbook a wide berth as they nearly always give unders.

I have had a look at the Betfair Antepost markets on the Melb. and Caulfied Cups, the Cox Plate and Caulfield Guineas and you can get already get some good value there especially for the win if you have fancy. I know its early days with the betting but I am tipping the Spring Carnival Betfair pools will be huge close to race day.

With Betfair it is not a bad idea to put a big price on the horse you want to back especially over the Carnival as they maybe few punters prepared to lay (match) it.

Bill Hurley's odds on the horse i like are similar to the odds offered by Colin Tidy.

Nice site is Hurley's though.
