Since cutting sugar from my diet as best I can. I cannot believe how much sugar is in everything and completely unnecessary.

I used to have 4x 250 red bulls a day so I never knew how sweet food was until I cut sugar.

I bought tortilla bases the other day and couldnt believe how sweet they were.

Today went to Ikea and got one of their hot dogs with mustard and it was unpalatable. FWIW savory foods should be savory.

Even when I make cakes I put 35%of the recommended amount.

I reallly think sugar in food is out of control and its not until you cut it from the diet that you realize how completely unnecessary it is in a lot of foods.

4 red bulls a day is just not healthy whether there was sugar in them or not

There is certainly something to be said for our taste buds being overloaded by certain flavours

veggies can taste bland if you're used to a lot of salt/sugar in your food, you miss the more subtle flavours

I went dairy free for a long time as a kid and the first time I had ice cream after the break was overwhelming with how creamy it tasted

Big Sugar has replaced Big Tobacco as the largest health risk globally.

Have a walk through the Cereal Aisle and read the labels as to how much sugar is actually in the "healthy" cereals.

All those wonderful little lunch box treats are almost all high sugar content.

Then there's your soft drink of choice.

Yes, I am diabetic and unlike the smoker who blames the tobacco companies for his cancer I accept that my diabetes is due to poor choices over 5+ decades (now in my 6th).

But yes, sugar is a ****er

4 Red Bulls a day?

Yes sugar is a problem but 4 Red Bulls a day would a bigger problem.

It's not hard to minimise, limit dessert to once or twice per week, have fruit or nuts as a snack instead of biscuits, chocolate bars etc and avoid fruit juice as a drink.

The one sneaky sugar you should definitely check for as an additive is High Fructose Corn Syrup. HFCS for short. Google it, evil stuff.

I've just started Feb Fast - not participating in the actual program however.

But I took it a further step and said I will only drink water and black coffee for Feb.

Should be interesting just the sugar I cut out from cordials, juice, coke and tonic water I use as mixers!

I had to go through an elimination diet and ate nothing but steak for 7 days and slowly introduced a different food each week. A diet with no sugar resulted in exactly as you describe.

I couldn't believe how ridiculously sweet vegetables were.

It just highlights why diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and cancer are issues in our society. Given the linkage of these diseases and the risk of death with covid; it makes me wonder why "healthy people" have to go through lockdowns and lifestyle changes, just so others can keep their lifestyle and slam back cokes, burgers, fries, booze and ****.

Four Red bulls a day?

It's always those that had a diet from a very low base telling everyone else how bad stuff is once they realise it.

Sugar bad. Moderation ok. No need to cut it out. Barely have four Red bulls a year. Might have seven sugar soft drinks a week, one a day.

An apple can have more sugar than a can of coke, but of course that's NOS vs added.

Bloody yanks with their socialist agrarian high corn subsidies flooding the market with super-cheap high fructose corn syrup.

Correct but processed sugars are worse than natural sugar. Plus the apple fills you up (stops you snacking on crap), provides fibre and vitamins and a slow increase in blood sugar levels whereas a can of coke spikes the blood sugar levels and provides zero benefits.

Don't get me wrong, I have sugar in plenty of things, but as you've said above, moderation is key.

Less than 30 miles to Battle Creek from my hometown.

Entire town reeks of ****ing Corn Flakes

Personally I blame the tree cutting, plaid wearing moose-****er up north and their damned Maple Syrup

Sugar/Processed carbohydrates are the devil when it comes to health IMO.

I follow a moderate LCHF dietary regime, that along with regular exercise is the best thing I have ever done for my health.

Plenty of great info on the Health, Fitness, Training & Nutrition board about this subject if anyone's interested.

If by sugar I assume you mean fructose
Was once put on a no sugar (as in anti carb diet for a health issue never again).
As to sweet sugar I do try limit.
Might have 1 soft drink every couple of days and sweets after dinner if out.
On holidays recently one thing I did find helped is if you have cavings for b/fast i had eggs and coffee with toast and spinach.
I'm not a big breakfast eater so ate about 12-2 but would fill me up till dinner.

I could easily replace all sugar driven snacks and desert in life with eggs on toast but then I'll probably have cholesterol

4 small red bulls by the way and that was as much as id ever have. It was mostly 2 per day.
Once you hit 3 weeks èveŕythìng with sugar is so sweet. The probĺem with taste testing for optimsl sugar is that the base level is coming from people with no detox. Cakes at ahops are unpalatable for me now. When i have in the past gone to a red bull or chocolate, I get sick real quick

I barely eat lollies or desserts anymore.

I have stopped drinking energy drinks at work and I reckon i'm now getting through shifts more alert and better than what I did when I was drinking them.

Would say I've lost about 5 kgs overall by doing it.

I think my biggest challenge is cutting out coke as a mixer with spirits.

Absolutely love a canadian + coke.

A mate of mine is trying a no sugar or sugar cut out diet and drinking spirits with coke no sugar... I can't stand it and at this stage, would rather just not drink it at all.

Perhaps after this 28 days of water only will change my palette and all of a sudden coke no sugar will be fine. Has happened before with coke zero back when I went on a water only diet for a while.

Drink your spirits with a splash of water on ice.

I too rarely buy any lollies cakes soft drinks etc. dark 70% chocolate i have a square of lindt most days as my ‘sweet’.
I do buy raw treats tho when i can which taste sweet but are made if prunes, cashews etc.

Sugar needs a tax pronto
