Who do you think is the more important onfield player at the moment?

Last year I would have said both were essential to the success of our club. At the moment though, I would have to say that Gardy is more important to us. As seen last night against Geelong, we had the manpower in the middle to make up for the non-presence of our main man. It is a pleasing sign to me that we can leave out one of the leading midfielders in the league and still get more than our fair share of ball through the middle.

The reason Cuzz had such a huge season last year was because he had too. Nobody (besides Kerr) helped out on a regular basis so Cuzz was left to do most of the work on his own. So I'm wondering how this lessened pressure on Cuzz to do a superhuman amount of work this year will effect him, as he seems to excel under this sort of pressure.

The great thing is that right now, we have some degree of redundancy in both of our stars positions- Cousins we've been over, and when it comes to Gardy, Cox can play ruck, and guys like embley and Haynes are perfectly capable CHFs. Actually, who would u say the five players whose performance is most important to our success are?
i'd go with

1. Cousins
2. Gardiner
3. Wilson
4. Wirrapunda
5. Mcintosh

With Rowan Jones, Dean Cox, Kerr, Collica and Braun as honorable mentions

I'm hoping and betting that we can get away from the star syndrome and have a team of players who are important. Last year it was embarrassing how reliant we were on BC playing a blinder - it's unfair to him too.

Woosha will have all of them doing the team things, which of course makes us more potent - look at Port Adelaide, Brisbane or Essendon as good examples of teams where if you shut down their best player, there's 5 or 6 others steaming in on goal instead.

Cox is no where near as dominant in either the ruck or around the ground as Gardy at the moment, but in the future all that is going to change, it could happen next year or maybe even this year. We have Cox, Seaby, Tucky, Seiracowski, Mc dougle and Gaspar who should all be able to stand up and do the job behind Gardiner, but aren't going to dominate all day yet. So I think it's going to be another year before we can affored to have Gardy injured or have a poor game and still be under no pressure in the ruck.

As for five most important onfield players

Gardiner
Cousins
Jacko
Ph. Matera
Wirra
Kerr

- make that six

I'd say both are equally important to us. Gardiner and Cousins complement each other very well in center bounces, and with one out of the side the others impact potentially drops. So I'd say both are equally important to our success.

In terms of our 5 most important players, I'd have a considerably different list than the rest of you:

1:Cousins (AFL's #1 midfielder and WCE captain)
2:Gardiner (Already dominant ruckman with heaps of improvement left)
3:Kerr (possibly west coast's brightest talent since Cousins)
4:Glass (Will be the anchor of our defense, so is vital to our success)
5:Gaspar (Could be Jako's successor)

As you may have noticed, all are very young. But its these players -not Jako, Roo or Milli- where my hopes for success rest. They will be West Coast's key players for the next 10yrs and their progress could determine our future.

I think Cousins is more important but both are essential in our rise back to the top. Cousins is one of the best midfielders in the competition and he is our captain and his presence on the ground is very important...as for our top 5.

Cousins - #1 Midfielder in the comp...our captain.
Gardiner - one of the premier bigmen in the league.
Kerr - the second coming of Kemp.
Wirrpunda - when at best....sublime skills.
Phil Matera - only player in squad to has the capability to go nuts and kick 4 or 5 goals in a short amount of time. One of the better small forwards around.

i'd have to put Cousins as being more important, we can usually throw someone else in the ruck to but using last year as an example, without Cousins in the midfield we wouldve been killed all the time

Personally I like to think the whole team is important.....teamwork is what makes this club tick. Best we dont allow Cuz and Gardy to become one dimensional to the side.....we need a players to step up if these two are shut down.......plus there is the comfort zone mentality as well...we need the whole team firing, not relying on Gardy and Cuz to be the ones to win the game for us....

To my way of thinking, one of the most important facets of our win on Friday night was that it was done without BC.

Must have done something for the team confidence considering the way the media beat up BC as being almost all there is to the Eagles.

BIG mistake to develop a reliance on only one player.
