Said today on radio;

"The worst thing Carlton did, was pick up me."

In other words, we should not of picked up rejects and play competitive for a year (won 10 games) and then lose the plot.

Should have rebuilt from the outset.

he wasn't that bad for us....he had skills, just not alot of pace for the modern game. Knowing our luck will try and get him as an assiatant coach

The talent of our list has not been the problem. What we get out of our list is the problem. Also lets not kid ourselves about 2004. Our placing on the ladder and wins was not representative of our performances. We played just as poorly and got just as little out of what we had.

The club has the resources now to be compeditive. We don't need new resources we need a new humble and honest attitude.

Think you may have missed the point here. He wasn't only refering to himself, he was refering to all of the other recycled players we recruited, including himself.

Instead of going for the kids and not having such a good 2004 season, we may have ended up with a higher pick or 2 and been able to pick up someone like a Roughead or a Deledio.

lets say we only won 8 games in 2004
it would give us 32 points and on percentage we would have ended up 13th
in draft terms that would mean taking collingwoods draft picks- after trades the draft order went

jordan lewis
sean rusling
luke blackwell as we took him f/s (collingwood took t cloke)
adam iacobucci

Is 1 player going to make the difference. Is having lewis rather than russell going to have won us more games in 2005 and 2006?

Actually now that you mention it Jordan Lewis is exactly what we do need a hard young midfielder that wins contested ball and tackles like there is no tomorrow.

he would be great to have but he is only 1 player

10 wins in 2004 showed we can turn things around. just like things can go pear shaped quickly, they can also improve quickly

we have talent on our list its just our guys are not peforming to their maximum

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the deal went this way. Simon Beaumont for Brett Johnson, however, Hawthorn also wanted to offload Harford (ie offload his salary) and included him in the deal.

Oh well, I reckon we may as well offload Fev and Whitnall this year for early draft picks.
Also watch out of the PSD as well. We may be able to pay back St.Kilda for stealing 'Hamill' off us. Watch this space :)

Care to elaborate further on that comment about the PSD? Have you heard something CP?

Hmm don't want to jinx it, but there's a very good chance Carlton if they finish last will be able to nab a promising young Saint in the PSD, especially if as expected Kouta retires at the end of the year, freeing up much need cap space.
