Hi Duncan, well done on the team. Must've been difficult to put together with so many good players missing out.

Perhaps you could tell us what your criteria for selection were? How you decided etc etc

Criteria

Games played- used 8 as a minimum
performance across the season-consistency
flexibility
goals kicked
goals kicked against
performance against top sides
side structure
nomination by your club
nomination by other clubs(put more weight on this one than the previous)
knowing my luck i didnt pick the competition best and fairest winner- this would certainly not be the first time it has happened. We all do know though that the umpires see differently. Having said that i also had a couple of nominations from umpires

Well done to SFX! AP were really missing Murnane up forward today.

Also well done to Kew in the Ressies, clearly the better team and should beat WB next week.

Congratulations must go to SFX for getting promoted in their first season fielding seniors and reserves. Many of their guns are very young so they are definitely a chance of going up a couple more grades in the next few years.

Can't see WB dropping the GF though, assuming they have the majority of their list to choose from.

so we in d3 have a nice road trip to beaconsfield next year. what are the change, social rooms & ground like??

Nice ground
Good change rooms
Social rooms new

My Tips for the GF...

WB by 10 goals, despite SFX being very impressive lately. The only concern for WB is the lack of games played this month?

Kew by 5 goals in the ressies.

There's not much left to say for 2008...

BUCO 101. 41.0 6.00 1.80

The two standouts look to be West Brunswick, who were unlucky to drop from D3 and should to return in 09 while St Francis Xavier should advance in their first year after dominating the clubbies comp. West Brunswick won't lose at home and this may be St Francis Xaviers only loss for the season.

With a new coach, Kew will be tough at home, especially after playing good quality opposition in 2007. They should comfortably make the finals

Mt Lilydale are always competitive and are a chance to sneak into D3 next year if they have enough depth to field 2 good sides. A long trip out there and should win at least 7 games at home

Box Hill North & Albert Park will be battling it out for the final position in Late August / September. Really tough to split these two at the moment but the competition for players in Albert Park is intense so I'm going to go with BH.

Can Richmond's resurgance continue and see them make the finals for the first time since they dropped back from D3 in 2003? Would certainly be a talking point across all the VAFA, except the grades where they don't realise there's anything below B grade.

Look for South Mornington to improve on their first up effort last year. A young team all a year older now with more juniiors coming through. Will be a force in a few years but probably not just yet.

Syndal Tally Ho will continue to finish mid table unless they can get some of their stars back or find some new talent. Not much seems to be happening down at Mt Waverley lately.

North Brunswick will win about 4 games again beating the teams below them. won't trouble anyone above about 9th

Eley Park will have 2 great battles with BHN and beat Bulleen Cobras twice. Possibly 3 wins

Bulleen Cobras look a cenrtainty to be a mid table team in a new D5 division next year
Good work Nostradamus

Levi Phipps was close, but right on the borderline with games. Francisco George and Paul Agnello were also not far off. It was a very hard thing to pick however and plenty of very good players missed out, including Karl Russo and Dimitri Dimakopolous who have also been mentioned. It wouldnt surprise if Russo won the comp b& f and i didnt even pick him:(

Yeh thanks for the response, i would have also chucked up D.Richardson one of the hardest working CHF's in D4. Wouldn't be surprised by Russo or Dimakopolous taking the comp B&F, my tip would still be Irving.

He certainly is a fair player crazy, however Karl Russo was the SFX player invited to the VAFA presentation night.
I supose the men in white see it differently. Ryan Wiley got invited from Kew when we were probably expecting Horne to poll well. Karl Russo certainly does get heaps of it but I feel Dima has more of an impact on a game.

Mick Sorleto was invited for North Brunswick...so one assumes he polled better than Pize, Harkins and Santacroce.

agreed i mean $1.80 favs for the spoon, i wish u had gary davies job i would have made a packet this yr, only 5 games clear of last
A bit of sarcasm Docker??- didnt mean to suggest you guys should have come last- i was more indicating that he got most of the ladder right which is significant considering some of the predicitions in other grades. You will have to help me with Gary Davies . At the risk of looking stupid who is he?

I got some good feedback from other clubs on Richardson, but the overwhelming response was for Sudholz closely followed by O'Connell who was also stiff. There were plenty of good forwards this year- Whiting and Fradkin are another couple that come to mind
