Hoping to get into a Sandown race on Saturday I believe.

Fairly confident Nick Hall won't be on it.......

Thank ****!!

Do most people believe it would pissed in as well if it was taken to the outside an was left with a 400 metre crack at the finsh?

It can be funny how some horses always do things to upset your punting, like beating you in photo finishes, miss a place when backing them each-way, run second when backing them straight out, etc etc.

Well I rate this horse enormously on what he has done in his runs to date.....who wouldn't!

But the first time I had anything on him was on Cup Day, when he cost me $940 in the quaddie when I had him one out.

Realistically, he only cost me $10, which was my outlay with a flexi quad, but 2% of over $47000 would have been nice.

Anyway, no doubt this bloke will many many good races, but it will take a nice collect somewhere down the track for all to be forgiven.

Or will he be that horse that continually annoys the shit out of me when I'm on the punt.

Hope not!

ps - i'm not into blaming jockeys too much, as for one N.Hall is very inexperienced and he will learn from his mistakes, and secondly having never ridden a horse as such, I admire their efforts and bravery in steering 500kg beasts around a track at an average of 60kph.

Like about 12 other jockeys from the spring carnival!

They get tougher when the big races are about......and new big wig Terry Bailey seems to wave a bigger whip than Des Gleeson.....right or wrong!
you are right there he is one who likes making headlines but he gets the job done, as for nick hall if the horse didnt have such a big hype he would probally get away with that ride but fair dinkun he was woefull on the big stage

He was too cute with the ride and got exposed by some experienced hoops, who all knew he was on the hot shot.

Cutting him some slack, he has only been in the game 5 minutes compared to some other jocks.

Also maybe at this stage of his career, he carries the burden of being G.Hall's son, or maybe worse he has his old man's arrogance on the back of what he (Greg) accomplished, when in fact Nick himself has done nothing of note.

To be given rides from the Lloyd William's team early on in his career, may have had the lad getting ahead of himself, rather than earn his stripes like every other young bloke coming through the ranks.

Anyway let's hope he learned from that ride.

To Tom's credit at least when they jumped he & Centrebet were the only one's offering $2.05 at the jump.

I know I was one of a few that deliberately had his board within eyeshot prior to the last on Tuesday. Perhaps we need more like him willing to take on some of the potshot favourites, I think racing would be better for a bookie willing not to be just another clone/replica of what is already there.
Well done Tom IMO. :thumbsu:

I'm talking about the talk of the track on Oaks day, the story goes his dad was with a high profile bookie the night before & the handbreaks went on the Duke on cup day

Tommy was great for our ring, they were betting 105%, couldn't remember the last time they bet 105% in a melbourne ring

For any horsemen out there u may have noticed he had glue on shoes on saturday....i mean wtf...this horse cant be 100% suprised hes running again as this can be a desperate measure eg...to gain a start in the emirates...get him to the paddock and come bak in the autumn and throw out them bloody shoes.

Gee...surprise, surprise!

An ex-jockey associating himself with a bookmaker the night before a big race day during the Spring Carnival.

Greg Hall and bookmakers have gone hand in hand for a long long time, if your believe the blackside of the racing fraternity.

If it is true, I suppose it will come out, but surely he is not that big an idiot to jeopardise his son's career, before it starts.......or maybe...........

Yer spot on. I know he was the best bookie during the spring but that little cheesy smile just made me double my bet to get back my daintree lost an then some. Like the other guy says he is the only one who actually doesn't shit them selves when he takes on a hot pot an has 3 people running at him with cash. Some of the bookies in the ring is not surpising they go broke because they pretty much just copy the fluc screens. The one think i might add is it was unusal to see that he had daintree at 1.85 an there was a 15 people line an it contuined to go out even though people were happy to take the 1.85. But good on him happy to have plenty of more duals with him( even though he doesnt care about my few hundred). Best bookie in the carnival my a bit to con kaf then a flemington straught.

Just don't believe these stupid frickin rumours. I'm sure this rumour is out there but it is utter crap.

I know Greg Hall very well and have for a long time and he is not crooked. The other thing is that he is so proud of his son that he tears up just talking about him. The LAST thing he would ever do is jeapordise his sons career.

Nick rode a poor ride and showed his inexperience. People did their dough and are now looking for a conspiracy. It's utter race track rumour bullshit.

Hey I agree.............my post was just highlighting what gets circulated and said, as soon as someone is seen with another person and bang you get an association.

G. Hall was one of my favourite jockeys, but for as long as I can remember he was always associated with some darkside of racing, maybe by people who love putting blokes down. He was always a bit left field as a jockey, outspoken, plus his personal life was also pretty unstable, so thats probably why.

Let's hope Nick learns from the ride and makes it to the big time.

The Sportsman have him running his last 200m in 11.92s.
The next best in the race was the winner who ran it in 12.28s.
Now to put it in the best light, at the 600 he was racing with Fusichi Knight, he ran home in 600 - 34.44; 400 - 23.38; 200 - 12.55
Daintree Duke did it in 600 - 34.33; 400 - 23.10; 200 - 11.92
Just shows you Hall missed the boat and by a long way.

I was just relaying what was said to me. these guys do get very good "mail" on things like this so I don't know what to think. I like Nick Hall, in fact I think he'll make a top 5 jockey one day he just needs to find a way to repay the punters after that ride. But big crowd, hot fav, top riders out to out-ride him, all adds up as well.
