When I was a Hawthorn supporter in 2008 I saw Luke Hodge destroy the Cats in a Grand Final with uncanny anticipation, decisive clearing of the ball, precise disposal out of defense, smothering, leadership, hardness, etc. Granted, it was only a win against Geelong, notorious finals chokers, but still it was impressive at the time, and many have tried to emulate Hodge's mastery of half-back since.

Today I saw Daisy Pearce come as close as anyone, reigning supreme in the same position and it has me wondering whether her move to half back is kind of like Hodgey's move in the second half of 2008, and whether she can have a similar impact on a Grand Final. Hodge went into the Grand Final with broken ribs, and Pearce has come back from having a baby, so courage will also be a factor if she wins Best on Ground in the Grand Final.

I know a champion, since my team has won every Grand Final since I have been born, and I sense that these two are very alike, practically two sides of the same coin! My prediction is that Daisy Pierce will dominate this finals series, and become one of the greats of AFL.
