Sorry to offend but to loosely quote Roos, the very good players on the first 22 cancel themselves out. It is the bottom 18-22 that make the difference. If Thomas were in the team, injuries aside, he would just replace a very good player. I can't see him improving the side at all.

What we get from Mayne and Fyfe is what you get with a Thomas type player. There is no need for him on the list.

This doesn't make any sense at all. If Thomas comes, he replaces says Sheridan or Sutcliffe. If he wasn't injured and we have money to spend, it would be a no-brainer to pursue him heavily as a free agent.
