The Boys go down!!!!!!!!!! Ohwell atleast we went down fighting..we finished off with a bit of a bang! We kicked over 11 points ....the main difference was definetly David Neitz, he kicked 6 goals! Mcintosh went of early in the match and that was obviousley where we suffered!
Oh well we'll put that one behind us and look to next week!

It was obvious that Neitz had a huge impact.

One thing we might want to take note of.

Neitz didn't get a possession in the first quarter, while McIntosh was on him.

When McIntosh came off, he got 6 goals in three quarters.

Unfortunately we weren't able to keep up the tempo, we weren't able to get 3 or 4 possessions together going from the backfield into our half forward line consistently, that is where we were got shot down.

Time to come back to Earth ! No doubt we are playing better football than the last couple of years but we still have a some work to do before we can challenge the best teams. Next week Brisbane at home, the following week Port Adelaide away. We have to consider three defeats in a row though Woosha being the champion that he is will try everything to motivate his players to beat Brisbane next week.

We have half a chance at home against Brisbane.. upsets happen, don't count them off yet.

Evcourse Brisbane will be the strong favourites to win, but stranger upsets have happened.

A few bad things that come to mind.

- The boys looked rather flat.

- None of the talls having any impact.

- Another poor game by Banfield. Will he finally get dropped?

- Turnovers killed us.

- Manning-up was poor as quite a bit of the run came from the Dees defenders.

Good things:

- Kerr working his way back into form.

- Wirrpunda and Cousins finally broke their tags and had more impact.

Not much else. :(

Very dissapointing.

The guys did look a bit flat. Perhaps last weeks extreme heat took it's toll on the players, but that's no excuse.

The midfielders won a fair bit of ball, but weren't willing to run hard enough to flood back in defence an help out the defenders.
Melbourne always got more numbers to the contest as well.

Alistair Nicholson, Mathew Whelan and Clint Bizzell were fantastic for the Dee's down back.
Nicho and Whelan kept our two main goalkickers out the match, while Bizzell ran off Williams all day and set up a ton of play.

Embly had a shocker.
He and Fletcher are still 'once a month' type players.
Dissapointing.

I agree with Vis that Banfield is looking very ordinary recently

What was up with benching Wilson and playing Embley?? He had a shocker, at one stage the ball hit him in the head while he was on the lead?? Just wasnt his day

I thought Embley did well to keep on presenting himself. Wasn't his day, but at least he kept going.

I wouldn't have kept Wilson on the bench and I would have asked our midfielders to honour his lead occasionally instead of kicking it wide.

Not here to rub it in or anything;) but Neitz was not the difference. His name was Powell - 35 possessions 3 goals. What an absolute champion.

And I predicted it - Nico, the most in form tall back in the league, thrashed Wilson. I don't think Wilson got any goals at all.

Nico's btiches:
Thompson
Tredrea
Ottens
and the newest member - Wilson

And Whelan, what a champion!!!

Congrats, your team was better on the day. I thought Wheatley had a great game for the Dees as well. Ahh well, it was a loss, but one we shall learn from and get better, and hopefully beat you here in Perth next time.

I thought our guys were looking deflated and played only in fits and spurts. McIntosh was a bad loss for us and our midfield was killed by the Dees.

We shall only get better and with some good recruiting, we shall be a force in years to come.....

Yeah a pretty disappointing loss. And now a tough home game against Brisbane. I didnt think Nico really beat Wilson, i never saw Wilson on the lead and then at the last second Nico come up with a spoil....i think both of them couldnt really find the footy and then Wilson spent some time on the bench. Thought Embly was lively in the last quarter and continually presented himself but just couldnt grab the ball!! Pretty frustrating but to his credit he just kept leading.

Cousins in the second half played his best half of football for the year so far and showed glimpes of last years form. His one turnover though was bad. Wirrpunda only played the 1st and 4th quarter.... but Kerr was great.

I agree. The short periods where we did actually gain the ball there were only a select few occasions where Wilson's leads were honoured by a delivery. Twice Nicholson infringed and gave away free kicks and once he spoiled cleanly. I would have liked to have seen what would have happened if Wilson were at FF in the final stages where Embley was dropping his chances, then we'd have a clearer picture on how the contest went.

It is simple.

Wilson 0 goals

Therefore Nico beat him

Think youre not taking everything into perspective, Would you consider that McIntosh beat Neitz because in the 10 minutes he played Neitz didnt kick a goal, despite having the ball kicked to him only once?

Although Wilson didn't recieve good service from our midfield, and had limited chances, the fact remains that he didn't kick a goal. He is Nicholson's bitch. This Nicholson is a deviate, because he already has a pretty large harem already.

Banfield? Must be dropped. His confidence is at an all time low. Being slow doesn't help his case either.

Question:

I didn't put either Wirra or Cousins in my best player list because they went missing in the second quarter, and that is essentially where we lost the game. I watched the game on Fox and noticed that they had both been missing for sometime. They showed Cousins going to the bench, but failed to mention exactly when Wirra went to the bench.

Did he going missing, and then go to the bench towards the end of the secong quarter? Or was he 'missing' because he was on the bench for the whol quarter? And if so, why did it take Fox so long to cotton on that he was on the bench? Can someone clarify this for me.

Well, it was sort of a bit confusing. The midfield rotations were constantly happening, and it was easy to lose track of who's on and who's off.

For example, in the space of about 5 mins this happened: Cousins went off under the blood rule so Braun came on in his place, and when he was patched up 2mins later they took Wirra off to bring him back on. About a minute later Cuzz went off under the blood rule AGAIN, so wirra came back on. When Cuzz was again ready, they took someone else off (roo i think??).

This went on all day. I don't think we had the same 4 in the centre square at 2 consecutive bounces all day.
