AND the dockers havent even won a final yet!!! ><

wait ...

nah now there saying "for a club thats only won 1 final" ....

just remind the eagles which team they were unable to win against in 2006 ;)

but good win to em. Great game to watch ... since i didnt care who won! :D

I'd put money on The Dockers being in the Grand Final next year. I reckon The Western Derby Grand Final just might be next year!

Congratulations to Freo though, for an awesome season!

Disappointed with the amount of freagles this year. Seems to be a lot more than last year.

Loving the amount of proud west aussies who are glad to see the cup in our state. Nice one West Coast, you deserved it. Freo next year.

It's something that is unique to WA though and I don't like it. Port hate the crows, Glasgow rangers hate celtic, Man City hate Man Utd, New Jersey nets hate the knicks etc, etc. Christiano Ronaldo was booed last week when Man United played in Portugal because he used to play for their rivals, even though he was a hero during the world cup. Beckham used to cop it from Manchester City supporters when he played for United, but the same people would cheer him on as England captain. It's called cross town rivalry.

I would understand, but disagree with, people supporting the other WA team if state of origin still existed, but it doesn't. Why are people expected to support their cross town rivals in WA, and get filthy looks from people when you tell them as a Freo supporter you hope Sydney win?
I think the expectation to support one's cross-town rival stems from that fact that a lot of WCE supporters (especially the ones who prefer the old Eagles song) have a lot of state pride. I'm guessing that many of us unthinkingly expect Dockers fans to support the Eagles when it comes to anything but a derby because we would support them. There's evidence of this by the number of well wishes and hopes for a derby grand final that have been spoken of on message boards and on the radio.

It is something unique to WA. From my experience, people over here in Vic raise an eyebrow when they find out you don't hate your cross-town rival and don't understand how we can co-exist without being consumed by a bitter, twisted, jealous hatred.

I'm sure many people don't realise it until they leave, but WA takes so much pride in itself and it's one of the things that make the state so livable. As much as the people of Dockerland have been trying to destroy that sense of state achievement and state pride, I hope it lives on.

I'm a Docker first, but equally proud to be a West Aussie, so congratulations to West Coast, enjoy it, we are equally proud of our Dockers this year, and I would love to see a Freo/Eagles GF next year. (Of course with a Dockedrs win) Has been a fantastic year for WA Footy, and Subi won so I'm even more happy. How do we get thru the next 5 months with no footy?
