I'm sort of not surprised by this.

A lot of recruits we've had over the last couple of years have been anything but premiership quality, but good enough to make us competitive. Yes, to take kids and build a list over a longer period would have been ugly, but to pin your decision on the fans is ******* rich. The bureaucrats at the club decided it needed to turn itself around and be competitive to remedy the corporate side of things - not the members.

Be a man, Dan. You and the club admin made this choice and have been bullshitting the members for years.
Now when the axe is looming you finally have the balls to set the right expectations. Seriously...you're a campaigner.

After 35 years of horrendous crap, what was with another few years? I think it was obvious to most that after we were man-handled by a geriatric in Judd and a coupla squibs in Murphy and Gibbs 3 years ago that we needed to add quality and size to the team. They've only brought in more hacks.

Agree SLC, seriously poor form from Dan. Without us pouring thousands in to the club over the years you wouldn't have your over-priced salary paid for. Pathetic.

I never wanted to be that guy that stopped getting a Membership but I am close at the moment. After the Tommy Hafey tribute match disaster against the Dees back in 2014 I lost what little faith I had left in the current regime, but as much as I try to be #eco..... I just feel really flat at the moment.

tbh I acted emotionally after the Port game and directed it toward Hardwick.

Now after hearing Dan Richardson come out with this garbage, I know now who is at fault. It is a board/Richardson thing. Dimma has done the best he can with the list we have, while the board sit there proud of themselves cos we have the biggest membership base in the AFL. It is like those prestigious private schools that care more about the schools apperance than success of its students. The RIchmond board care more about how the club appears (looking good by making finals, talking up the club) than actual success.

You don't think the head coach gets a say in list management?

gees these 2 lines are damning.

"We're paying a price in the sense that we knew that that mature-age talent would get us to a point but not take us to the next level, which was always going to be the hardest part.

"While it's been disappointing somewhat to not win a final, it's been a good achievement to play finals for three years in a row for the first time for 20 years for the club."

I might be wrong, but I could have sworn that when Dimma first started we were speficially told "No Bandaid fixes" and we will be 'sticking to the blueprint'.

Or did I hear those two things incorrectly?

Pretty shit blueprint if you ask me, and we have done nothing but Bandaid fix shit, and the club knew this obviously and are seemingly happy with how it turned out.

this is getting beyond a joke now.

Another disappointing effort by one of the clubs spokesmen to deflect the blame elsewhere.
I'm getting sick of reading how we should all accept finals appearances as a victory, even though we couldn't actually get a victory in any one of the three. That's a big part of the problem for mine, trying to pass mediocrity off again as some level of success. For the good of the whole organisation, a big shake up is needed right the way through with a healthy injection of fresh blood and new ideas.

So RFC thought a half arsed 4 year rebuild was better than an 8 even though they knew it wouldn't achieve the goal everyone strives for.
Now it will take 15 years.

Everybody and I mean EVERYBODY at the club involved with that decision needs to type their resignation letter NOW.

I won't be giving these ass clowns 1 single cent more until they're all gone.

This quote from another thread will stick in your craw.

West Coast 14/16 2001, premier 2006
Geelong 12/16 2003, premier 2007
Hawthorn 15/16 2004, premier 2008
Collingwood 15/16 2005, premier 2010
Sydney 12/16 2009, premier 2012

Eight year rebuild needed to win a flag, my arse.

ive said it a million times, this club does not DEMAND success. They may have once upon a time but we are now happy with mediocrity

More than happy for it, Today's revelation showed they planned for it.

Blowtorch is on Dan and the board moreso than the coach. So at least Dan takes responsibility. It does make sense that our "real" rebuild would not have worked with the early draft picks going North. But allowing Zac Smith to go Geelong rather than have a crack ? Same with McEvoy ?

Reading between the lines, Dan is protecting Dimma and redirecting the blame to the recruiters. In the process, they pulled the wool over the member's eyes.

I would suggest that the RFC hierarchy offer this year's members FREE membership for next year as punishment !

After all, we were misguided into thinking we were a Treloar away from top 4 ?

3-0-75 there was never a finals in that plan, ther has never ever been a flag in our KPIs
