I'd like to see them keep going, a big win - or any win really - is important!

I'm with you-I'll just take any win too. C'mon Crows!!! Get some more goals!!!

Today's game showed that many of us were quite right to be apprehensive about this match.

Thank goodness Hawthorn couldn't make the most of their opportunities in the first half.

We were only convincing for one quarter but sometimes that's enough for a good side (against an average side).

Bit agonising again in the last quarter. But I'll take it. A game plus % clear in second spot, you beauty. :D

I was speaking to a mtae and was saying that there is a POV that in todays footy motivational coaches who rah rah are not the flavour of the month - the thinking is that footballers are much more intelligent and this type of coaching is counterproductive.

Mmmmmm  I think sometimes some of these footballers need motivating - very soft generation, mentally fragile compared to days past - perhaps more match day motivating is required particularly against teams you should beat easily

Thoughts??

It's an interesting question.

Even if it isn't by rah rah rah, teams do need motivation from external sources and not from just within. The problem is that a team is made up of 22 individuals.

Take Adelaide today. No matter how many times it was said that it was a danger game, you could bet your house that the majority of our team thought all week that we would beat Hawthorn today.

And that's where you can easily lose. Not so much from being mentally fragile, but because the way that the draft works has closed up the gap between the highly ranked teams and the lower ranked ones. Just be 5% off you game and you can go under.

Totally unlike the "good old days" whereas the clubs with money bought all the good players and could always win with one hand tied behind their backs.

So does the idea of leaving layers to their own devices pre game and simply reinforcing a few game plan tactics the way to go.

BTW what is Craigs pre game routine - anyone know??
