There is something about this kid, cant put my finger on it but he is going to be a topliner. Sure there are stories about why he slipped in the draft and so called attitude issues but at the end of the day he is a Tiger and will be for many years to come.

Was considered a top ten pick except for attitude. There's a long way to go yet, but judging by the way he went at Barry Hall to fly the flag last week I reckon the attitude may be just about spot on.

Quite frankly, I love the fact that he has a reputation & some attitude. How many times have we heard or posted that the Tigers have no personality, are introverted and have no "mongrel".
Who knows how it will turn out but as far as debut's go, his pleased me a lot more than some others of late. (Meyer, JON etc...)

A few people from the Bendigo Poineers were actually suprised he got drafted, but looks like a good player, good luck to him.

Shows how much you know... JON has more mongrel than 90% of the list. Been suspended twice this year for attacking players.

About Connors, he sounded like a good kid in the article and not like a total dirtbag like he is sometimes painted as. He rated the Simpsons movie "4 out of 6 stars" lol and is confident the Tigers will WIN this week.

I reckon he'll take Deledio's role at half back next year and then hopefully be a top line midfielder in the future. He has toughness, courage and class (and skills) so if he does become a top liner he will be a valuable package.

Thanks Benny. Not doubting JON's apparent toughness, in fact have posted the same elsewhere. I have barely seen him play as I am not in VIC but enjoy hearing about his progress because unlike some, I can see him blossoming in the near future.
Re my comment in this thread, I was purely referring to debut matches.
Connors on Sat night showed more than JON in "dreamtime" last year.

Cheers.

Won't be long until we coach those 'skills' right out of his game. Can't have that at Punt Road.:D

dont worry dude, you might think its a joke, but as long as the turnover kings are around and he keeps having to give it to them, sooner rather than later, he too will begin to hesitate when looking for an option and seeing the who's who in turnovers as an option, and low and behold? yep, you guessed it. ;)

Love connors. played junior football with him. Estatic he has broken into the team. Also heard he went alright today. Is he a chance for rising star nomination?

Definitely

is a footballer first and foremost, knows how to dispose it properly, when to take them on and when to get rid of it, also has flair. Confident young man :thumbsu:

Can someone who watched the game give a detailed analysis of how he went? heard he took a little hanger... how was that?

from a standing start jumped on varcoes shoulders and took a hanger at CHB..

Looks composed when he has the ball and rarely gets caught even in a tight spot. His disposal is 1st class, not only that knows where to kick it and how to give us advantage. Is tough and runs straight at the footy, one grab player. had about 25 touches and was probably more effective than foley who had 35.

my impression was that he has something that is a rarety at richmond, skills. He hit targets, looked composed and added a bit of flare. very very impressive

Will need to do a bit more to get a nomination. Everitt has it pencilled in this week I reckon.
Connors had 25 disposals in his Second Game, I don't think anyone has done that well for a long time.

Rising Star this week!

disposal is a bit hit and miss but could be the only decent draft pick for the tigers this year.
And Shane Edwards and Jack Riewoldt.

That's two promising young players at least edwards and connors.

incorrect. Thursfield, McGuane, Connors, Edwards, LIds, Polo. Makes 6, 4 more and we are in the groove. Come on Bling!!!!!!!!! ****ing wake up, stop trying so hard, just do it naturally dude. I am convinced he is trying to hard and puts himself under pressure, because he wants to prove something. No need to Bling, just do it and it will prove it to us. Saw it a few times today, its coming kid, just let the natural talent emerge dude. Dont let the bad luck slips today bother you. ;)
