He was given stuff all opportunities in the seniors. In round 3 against the dogs he did fairly well, then he was dropped a couple of weeks later. He didn't get much game time in the seniors and was unlucky to be dropped a few times. I would have played him in the middle most of this season for the seniors to get him ready for 2006 as a midfielder. People keep saying he should be a key defender(CHB or FB), but he is at least 5cm too short. Most key defenders are either around 190-191cm and stocky(95-100kgs) or about 193-197cm and athlethic(90-100kgs). For Jacko's build he would need to be 5cm taller at least, because he doesn't have the build of a Mal Michael. He wouldn't have the strength or the reach to stop a Player like Gehrig, Brown Tredrea. Jacko should be a midfielder of flanker and should have been played in the seniors most of the year instead of Krakouer or Chaffey. I'm hoping Jacko and Shultz are given plenty of opportunity in the seniors next year.

Lets not suger coat it, Wacko has really struggled when in the seniors this year. Only played 9 games, 5 of the first 5 so Wallace must have rated his 2004. Averaged 7 touches.

As for future postion I hoped he would develop into a mobile CHB but that doesnt look the case, he does not have the abilty to make it as a midfeilder. At 188cm's he might be able to to take over from Graham/Kellaway as the 3rd tall in the backline.

However, at this stage (If he does make it) I think he might be a large winger. In modern football they large, strong winger is like gold. The likes of Embley and Burton are prime examples.

Burton has had a very good year. If you dont like him think Simon Goodwin.

Where is the proof that he wouldn't be a good midfielder? He is 6'2", strong, quick, skillful and smart. I've only seen him play a decent amount of time in the middle against St Kilda last year in the last quarter and against Bulldogs this year in round 2 and when he went in there we actually started winning the centre clearances.

I'd argue he doesnt have football smart, looks lost out there at times and is not overly skillful.

Agreed. In that football v athlete debate he is a clear example of a guy recruited on athleticism and attitude, there isn't much footballer in him (yet). I think his best chance is to be a tagger for 3-4 years. He will learn a lot following the best midfielders around, won't do too much worse than Chaffey, and in a few years we might be talking about an underrated guy like happened with Cresswell or Simpson who suddenly started winning games themselves.

agreed, but time & experience might bring him the spoils.
The thing is, I have got time for him because I look at him and the kid is a winner, he has that presence about him. Dont underestimate that.
He is raw, and its quite evident in the way he runs, he runs like he is a 400m athlete, not a sleek moving footballer. But that stuff can be fixed.

I used to think he could be a CHB but ive changed my mind now. I would like to see him as a bowden-Hall type wo takes the 3rd tall then gives some run out of the backline.

I'd like Jacko to be tryed in the tagging role.

He's a big body with a pretty mature body. Wont be worse than Chaffey.

you always seem to turn a insightful comment into a sarcastic dig at another player don't you???
