One of the guys who was at the open training session mentioned it I think. Said he stayed down for a while but got up and went and did some kicking I think?

Story on Ten News just then - Menzel injured his knee earlier this week but the club is confident there's no serious problem.

Anyone know anything more?

Poo! I'll have to watch the sports reports in the next 10 minutes to see if there's anything else. If it was serious do you reckon we would have heard about it sooner?

If that is the incident they are talking about it didn't seem like much at all. I'm sure I read it somewhere, maybe in the story about Bartel and Kelly. I think it was James Rahilly and he said he just needs to trust his knee. Hopefully that's all it is.

A VFL listed player that i wont name mentioned something about this to my brother today at their work. He said it looked serious and the club were trying to keep it under wraps... Hope it's just the scare we have all heard about from Monday's open session. But it might have occurred during a different training session since then. Hope not.

sure hope it's only a strain and nothing more sinister :(

What would be the point of that?

can anyone tweet Cats Insider to hear if any news will be coming out?

Upsetting for Dan if he's had a set back but you'd think it wouldn't be too bad if reports are he we able to walk off the ground.

Agreed.
There's a chance there's nothing in it.

About Menzel i was there at the open session and think i saw when it hapenned. Not sure there was much in it. He looked fine to me and i think he even stayed out there doing stuff. He didnt appear upset or anything. As far as i could see he was ok. I think dazbroncos was there to and he saw it as well. I wouldnt be too worried.

sounds like he's ok then.

Adrian Peterson in the NFL is a wonderful story at the moment, he did the same injury and it was actually even worse as reports were he would never play sport at the highest level ever again but he went through what Menz went through and did all the hard yards for a year, came back and is absolutely tearing it up for the Vikings, not only is he performing better than before the knee went on him but he's come back stronger and faster (will win the MVP).
He's says the biggest hurdle was trying to forget about the knee and just let go and believe it was ok because when you are only 90% committed...it's usually in those moments that injuries occur.

Sounds like Menzel needs to believe that it's fine and he's only 21 so word is his knee will become more stable and stronger than prior to the injury and he can come back a better player if he gets over the mental hurdle.

Josh Hunt I think has had both done,he will be great support for young Menz.

There aren't many in the 2 club, and pretty sure JH isn't. He did do a tibial stress injury early on, iirc, but unless he did a knee before he came to us, .....
Nevertheless, he'll help. By now, DM is an expert in rehab of ACL knees. He might want to have a chat with Prismall and learn what not to do and what to do?

Spot on as usual VEEDUBS,I recall he missed a lot of footy early on and for some reason I have always thought it was an ACL but your right it was indeed stress fractures.

I have had a knee reco and it took me at least half a season to start to feel confident in it again. I know i am not at Menzel's level but footy is footy. You are right once you get over that mental hurdle you are fine. Sometimes you actually need to do something to it for you to regain faith in it again. I know once i did some things that could have re injured it and came through that it gave me confidence. After what happened in his first comback one can understand his uncertainty with it.

Yep. I doubt he will have any significant impact this year. And I won't be surprised if he does it again, and that will be it!
I hope I'm wrong, but......:(

I was there at the open session. Menz was out there running. Didnt see him go down but saw him on the ground. There didsnt seem to be anything massively suspicious or eventful about it. i am also not a physio, Dr or orthopaedic surgeon.

He did no further work after it but was walking of own free will.

Not seen again that session. Had to leave early as the kids (3 and 5) were losing their shit....

GO Catters

He did do an ACL, or at least he needed a knee reco due to a knee injury during the pre-season Grand Final against Collingwood in '09.

Apparently Menzel has hurt his left knee, don't know how bad.
