I reckon we should have a crack at him. Has seriously underperformed at the Roos and should do better at the Melbourne Football Club. Could see him easily adding that yard of pace in the middle of the ground that we so dearly need. Would be a great compliment to the likes of Brock, Jones and Grimes.

Daniel has just signed a new contract at North.

Besides that his wife's family are North diehards...wouldn't be good for family harmony. ;)

yeah, just signed a contract, just a 'tease' of a player, shows you the potential he has - then fails to deliver the goods, wouldve been too expensive for us anyway..

Pearce from port is probably a better target and has been suggested before. Both would cost us way too much.

We'd be looking at a player and a top 20 draft pick.

I seem to remember some trade talk a few of years regarding Wells moving to Melbourne and Sylvia going the other way, but obviously nothing eventuated.

In any case, I'm happy with Sylvia.

Can we lock threads once the initial suggestion has proven to be impossible?

lol half the threads on here would be locked after the opening statement if that was the case:D

i was confused , i didnt realise which daniel wells dutchy12 was talking about, im glad he told me it was the kangaroo's one.

Am i the only person who finds it hilarious when people automatically label an outsider player with pace a frontrunner?

Anyway, we don't need any players like that, because our slow in & under midfield killed it so much this year, even more so in the last few rounds when our "frontrunner" davey was out of the side:rolleyes:

We don't want him. Plays three or four good games a year, then goes hiding for the rest of the season. We already have enough of those players as it is. Next suggestion.....

I'd love him at Melbourne, I really would. He'd complement our midfield very well.

However he'd cost way too much. Would the Roos do Pick 17 + Bruce for Wells?

You should look out our board, we're all demanding to trade Brent Harvey, Daniel Harris and Daniel Wells for Brad Miller, Jeff White, Paul Wheatley and Phil Read.

We can throw in Darren Kowal if you like, as well.

Alright, sounds good. We seem to like pairing up our players' names, and since we have Alan Obst on our list, can we please have Andrew Obst, just as an extra sweetener?

Cheers.

Don't mean to troll at all guys. I think you guys should be looking to hold onto your picks and if you get a chance get some more in. I think your midfield will be fine. Brock and Jones are serious no nonsense players of class. Cale will run all day and will be a top player. Jack Grimes has massive raps and is a quality leader. Adam Maric will be the next Nathan Brown. He is absolute class. Just needs to work on his motor - not hard to to when your at an AFL club. Then you have Green and Bruce and Moloney is good when fit.

No, but it is generally these types of players that only play well when the team is going well.

That is kind of the definition of a frontrunner.

Call him what you like, but every team has those players, every team needs them. Most forwards, especially small forwards, are some what "frontrunners" because it's hard to play well the ball doesn't come down there much. Dal Santo is seen as a frontrunner, doesn't mean he wouldn't instantly be the best player in our team

We've got plenty of grunt players, they just seem to struggle to finish the job at times, we need a few players who have a bit of polish, call them frontrunners is you will, who can finish it off. If we had a few classier outside players then we might have won a few of those close games this year where we had a run on and were competitive, but just didn't have good enough players to finish it off.

There is a difference between being a frontrunner and being an outside midfielder. For example, Nick Stevens is an outside midfielder, but he is very consistent.

As far as I'm concerned, we want players who are going to lift when the team needs them most, regardless of what role they play. Of course, you do need polished players, but you need the right ones. Particularly for a bottom team like us. Maybe Wells would fit in at Hawthorn or Geelong, where he can get fed brilliantly, but in a struggling side I don't think he would be valuable.
